Performance Boat Candy Wax
I usually use the two step process with leverage oxidation remover followed by their pure wax form. Usually holds up OK for a couple weeks. Boat is used in saltwater ONLY. I try to stay away from compound/cleaner combo's, but the site seems legitimate and is endorsed by reputable people (ie teague). Anyone have any experience? Willing to try it out if theres enough good reviews. It's tough doing full two step detaisl 4 times a summer:angry-smiley-038:

Personally, I only like the liquid sprays for a quick shine. I don't feel this gives the protection as good as the traditional way.

its hard to find a good wax and doesnt streak or swirl.... Has anyone ever used Zymbol cleaner/wax....ive used it sev times and its difficult and messy coming off, but it leaves a nice/shiney coat.....:drink:

Jesus Christ. Numbskull. |
We use Boat Candy and it works great. If you have a good coat of wax on your boat before you go out on the water, it works the best. With some quick spray cleaners out there, it will take off your coat of wax but Boat Candy seems to not strip the wax...

Yes. I've used it. It looks good, but is a lot of work. It didn't seem to look any better or last any longer than Frenzy or Leverage though. |

Leverage is the only stuff to use

Im confused. Is this stuff supposed to be used as a spray wax or abrasive? In addition, anyone use collonite?
I've used it two different ways... One, when we are on the water and have some water spots and/or feel like wiping the boat down. It does a great job of taking off the water spots aswell as giving a great shine. Two, right after we get off the water and don't have time to do a full clean that day... Like I said before, similar to other quick spray cleaners it seems to work better when you already have a nice coat of wax on your boat, but Boat Candy does not strip your existing wax like other cleaners do. I hope this helps. |

I boat on the Mississippi river which isn't salt, but muddy and likes to stain. I have tried many waxes and by far the longest lasting one that I found and continue to use today is Collinite Heavy Duty Paste Fleet Wax 885. I use a sponge applicator and take it off with old 100% cotton t-shirts. It actually goes on and off really easy which is a plus! |
Might as well keep confusing the issue. I've used leverage, 3m ultra performance, frenzy, etc. Fountian of Youth stuff has worked the best for me. The Vitreo wax is easy on and off, great shine, uv protection:

Performance Boat Candy sounds like its a temporary spray wax rather than a hardcore UV protector. |

I've used every product on this page, from marine to airplane, for 16 months, I've tested just about every recommended, non-recommended product on this site.
I was a leverage guy, still am, but for some reason it just doesn't have any longevity on my boat. One month, that's about the max. I've found the best to be a combination of Permanon and RejeX. Neither being a wax, and I don't like using a wax product on my boat. Take a large spray bottle, squeeze the RejeX in it, then pour half the Permanon in with it, shake it up, wait one week, it will become a gel, then pour the rest of the Permanon in the bottle and shake like hell. It will come out semi-thick, not as easy as a liquid spray but not thick enough to clog the spray nozzle. Spray, wide it in, and wipe off. I like using a buffer, not because it's difficult to remove, just easier for me. The mix of the RejeX and the Permanon, is far superior for both shine, longevity, and anti-bonding of slime, soot, ect. I experimented this summer on my transom, the only thing that kept the soot off my transom for an extended period of time was the mix. I detailed the entire boat in October, yesterday I went to place some masking tape to trace over my vinyl graphics and I couldn't get the tape to stick. Not bad for a 13 yr old boat. http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...2/Transom6.jpg |

seems like a lot of mixing this and that and then having to buy two products and then wait a week before it gels...Buy one product, LEVERAGE...follow directions, make sure your gelcoat is ready for application.. Leverage works, and its so simple..no buffer required and I did my 45' boat sides in a half hour ..secondly the cost is so damn reasonable vs buying two more expensive products and then mixing...plus it goes twice as long as the other two products mentioned. Just my .02. Jeff

I've been an extremely happy customer of Leverage for the last 5 years. One coat per year and it lasts the entire season. I boat in a salt water enviroment...but it is slightly brackish. This picture is from last spring. The paint is 10 years old.

I've tried Leverage for the first year of my boat, used the OR, spoke with Donny on several occasions. I like the product, but it just doesn't hold up compared to mix on MY BOAT. For me mixing the product is no big deal, the cost of both products is $31.00 and I have enough to last a year. To each their own, just throwing out there what worked for me and what didn't.

If anyone's interested, you can navigate to our website's contact us page, send us your address, and we'll ship you a 2 oz sample of our Speed Gloss product to try for yourself. This product was specifically engineered to be used as a maintenance wax cleaner between normal waxing applications. The biodegradeable formula will remove water spots, minor oxidation, and prolong the life of your traditional sealants and paste waxes. It works great when wiping down your boat after pulling it out of the water and adds wax each time you use it which further prevents water spot buildup.
We're slated for production of our creme glaze wax soon and so far the test results have been nothing short of amazing. For those of you going to the Miami Boat show, we'll be at the OSO Party Friday evening handing out samples and swag. Here's the site address: http://www.performanceboatcandy.com |
I have used Leverage on 89 boat and did not improve at all.
I mix my own wax and it lasts about 1/2 summer in muddy/sandy river. I use 1/2 can of Meguiar's Cleaner Paste Wax mixed with the same amount or Turtle Wax Color Magic car polish. I heat the paste in a microwave (very slow-low setting, do not want to burn) until liquid. Then I add the turtle wax and mix. The wax turns to a semi-paste in about a day. I apply with a power applicator, let dry then buff. I make a batch for each color on the boat, works great. |

My fishing boat tests wax/polish in ways that would make most of you guys cry. Kingfish blood is a particularly good test :)
I have yest to find anything that works any better or lasts any longer than NuFinish. Yep, the cheap polymer polish in the orange bottle. |

Wow Bert. I don't want to speak too soon, but this is some good stuff (lets just see how well it holds up). I cant say I've gotten shine out of the truck like this in a while. I stripped it down and applied, as we discussed, and.... damn:eek:. Some before and afters. I went to my buddies professional detailing shop and he was surprised. Asked for the bottle, but its the only mix I got:lolhit::drink:
