Big cost difference, although rigging will somewhat make up that difference, in favor of the T-53.

HUGE life expectancy difference, in favor of the T-53.

I'm a firm believer of asking questions, however, this particular one...if you have to ask...

YOU SHOULDN'T BE IN THIS SPORT...THIS IS COMPARING APPLES TO STEAK...
:greenchainsaw:

Both are very expensive, but then again, so is this sport...

and if you don't obviously know the rebuild schedules, the fuel requirements..why am I still typing...

Another useless thread...:evilb:

I was tired of him about 2 weeks ago. Sounds like a kid that did a little reading and thinks he can pass himself off as grown-up with a pocket full of cash to buy a fast cat.

He's the coolest kid in his 9th grade class...his daddy's bayliner needs an upgrade...or even master-craft that does 120mph...

I'd insinuate pontoon boat, but we all know haha they can actually reach those speeds, hah If I lived on a lake, I'd be too tempted to own one of those..50ft...party island that out runs most performance boats lol...

SS930 01-21-2011 09:43 AM

^ Sounds about right to me too. Don't know about the pocket full of cash part though...

Raylar 01-21-2011 10:23 AM

Why? Why? Why?

Question:
Do you think the owners of the OSO website & forum encourage or plant these kinds of crazy and meaningless subscriber threads to up the reply and view counts on the site to enhance figures for sales, marketing and website valuation reasons ??
Or do you think these wacko questions that seem to pop up covering all kinds of absurd questions just come form boaters who are so bored or suffering from so much winter with drawl that they loose what little grey matter control they have??

Just a little food for thought!

Boy, I can see a Moderator delete coming on this one!

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

Well I consider myself a real boater with a real boat even though I dont post much. I really enjoy reading questions like this. I will probably never have the means to own a t-53 or a Sterling 1550, but I do find it very interesting to hear about and I appreciate all the knowledgeable guys that get on hear and talk about the dream boats.

Perlmudder 01-21-2011 11:29 AM

does anyone have an actual figure on how much a set of t53's thrown in by Turbine marine costs? not the boat, just the turbines and rigging?

I was wondering the same thing, I'm thinking about doing a t-53 swap into my Aristocraft 16... the 65 Johnson is getting tired, and I'm looking on the best bang for the buck upgrade. The lower unit is still good, but the power head has low compression. Does anyone sell an adapter to bolt the turbine on top, I don't see one listed on Turbine marine's website? it's non-electric shift, if that matters. Thanks guys!

X-Rated30 01-21-2011 01:07 PM

Actually, someone DID make a turbine powerhead for an outboard. Don't recall the specifics. Someone call T2x.

I think it was MTT. I recall a picture and some spec's a few years ago on the MTT website. It was mounted on a rib.

Turbine cost

I was charged $225K for a spare turbine marine turbine.knowing what I know now-there werent any new parts in that spare. On the flip side-PPS rebuilt both my grenaded tubine marine turbines for less than half that cost and can answer any questions about them or any part used in the rebuild.
