It actually works opposite of what you said on a stepped boat like this one.
Having the weight in the back of the hull, keeps the steps "wet" which increases stability through turns.
Not having the weight in the rear, is what will cause the hull to get pushed around where you don't want it to go. The more centered or forward of center the weight is on a stepped hull, the more bow-steer can come into play & cause it to hook.

you are correct altho the deck was never touched. Bill traded the 27 Krypt back to Kirk for the 39 after racing the 27 3 times wanted something bigger. The 27 was then purchased by a gentleman from long island that used it as a pleasure boat from 02 until i just purchased it. I've been tryin to buy it since late 07 and finally did. It was also in the Sept 2000 Powerboat F-1 Shoot out
How does that happen?

Bruce, how did it happen? I am really surprised you don't see it happen more. In the last 5 years I can't remember too many vee hulls going over in races. I know Lavey, Wanted, Activator, and the Bat boat have. I guess 4 is getting up there
