I got to get one of those.

As an aside, do they have noise / muffler laws on Champlain ?

yes...you do need to get one...they are awesome! i use it all the time!

and what are mufflers? lol...no noise law that i know of on the lake.

Excess 05-21-2011 08:01 AM

you may see me there this summer. Canada has muffler law within 5 miles of shore. But all the lakes are max 2 miles across.

make your way down here...well once the lake goes down a bit

jeff32 05-24-2011 08:33 PM

when do you guys think the lake will be down enough to go boating safely?

VtSteve 05-24-2011 09:34 PM

At this rate, with more rain this week, I'd have to say mid June earliest. Probably later.

I've seen stuff floating out there that would cause some very real harm:eek:

A tree, complete with roots, floated by our place. It was conservatively 40 feet

Has anyone heard what Breakwaters may do? They've been underwater for nearly a month now.

Slinky 05-25-2011 06:56 AM

ya the stuff floating is crazy....i'm in no rush to get on the lake!

All NY waterways have a 90db limit. Some areas enforce the law and some don't. Lake Champlain is pro performance boats in my opinion.

VtSteve 05-25-2011 11:03 AM

I don't know of another Northeastern lake that has as much freedom as Champlain. You can be out on a beautiful summer weekend day, and see far fewer boats than you would on a pond. There's also far less places to go out by boat (meaning restaurants and such), especially on the Vermont side.

But the huge reward for that is some pretty pristine boating.

VtSteve 05-27-2011 05:34 PM

The Turtle is now open :drink:

I don't even know if you can drive there from here yet.

Will this rain ever end?

Floaters

Buddy of mine passed a hot tub, in the broad lake, between the mouth of the Chazy and Rouses Point the other day! It's going to be a short season!

VtSteve 06-02-2011 10:12 PM

I'm finally free of the house I pay for but don't live in, and this is the crap we have this year:bsflag:

Powerball is Saturday.

single 502...still sitting at Chris's place....waiting for the lake to go down so we can water test then finish the deal! I'm kinda hoping in the next week or so....but we'll see

VtSteve 06-07-2011 07:23 PM

Water is dropping fast now thankfully. down to 101.6. It should easily be below 101 finally by the weekend. That used to be considered a very high level for April.

I haven't even seen my boat lately, possibly raccoons or whatever living in it. Is there anyone open for gas on the lake now? Jake's looks dead, Burlington is still underwater, is Champlain open?

Pbmcharlotte 06-07-2011 08:51 PM

Point Bay fuel dock open. 91 octane non ethanol!

VtSteve 06-07-2011 09:23 PM

Unfortunately my tank is 38 gallons, so Charlotte from Mallets Bay every fillup would be tedious.

Nice diesel prices though, quite a bit less than gas. How'd manage that?

We put the Mut in at Champlain Marina yesterday but no fuel there for while. Burlington waterfront is done for for the year is my guess except for Splash that is open now.

We just put-putted to the marina I think our fuel options for now if your not around Point Bay Marina is calling a truck in if you can't trailer out.

VtSteve 06-08-2011 04:35 AM

Yikes, thanks for the update GL.

What a summer

Didn't know you parked the Mut in Vermont this year. Lots less fuel doing it that way ;)

I'm moving next month, so I really haven't had boating thoughts yet with all of that mess going on. Maybe I'll get the boat ready for a change and do some work on it before launch, whenever that will be.

Slinky 06-08-2011 06:22 AM

looks like we'll be picking our new rig up some time in the near future....cant wait!! now if someone would just go take all the debris out of the lake!!
