URGENT *** PLEASE HELP REMOVE Arbitrary Speed Limits in New Hampshire
As you may have already been aware, last year the liberal legislature and some special interest groups were able to pass speed limits on Lake Winnipesaukee NH. 45 mph during the day and 30 mph at night. A group of boaters called Safe Boaters of New Hampshire “SBONH” joined together in protest of enacting this law and has been working diligently to have these arbitrary limits removed from the lake. This group has a current bill before the newly elected legislature in NH to remove these limits and institute the US Coast Guard guidelines that all boaters are familiar with.
Please help us remove these arbitrary limits by visiting: www.sbonh.org to sign our petition. This is a different petition that what was circulated a year ago so please revisit the site to help our cause. We only have one month to gain as many signatures as possible and return personal freedom to boaters in New Hampshire. These restrictions must be stopped before they spread to other states and affect ALL boaters! |

I have been getting all sorts of responses! We must be getting through. I'm somewhat suprised they are taking the time to actually respond. I've been back and fourth with 3 of them 2 or 3 times now...

Also guys if you want to continue to help and stay updated
Go to www.sbonh.org and join our forums.. We need all the help we can get! |
Done! Thank you for the updates.

Another response...
I'm not sure I would like to open up the lake to unrestricted speed limits. I did break with my party last year and offered a compromise Western Lakes style "Go Fast" zone in The Broads. This area would have been declared without speed limits during day light hours. This was shot down. Maybe this compromise position should be considered by both sides? Best Steven Lindsey state rep Ches-3 Keene, NH |
Got this response.
"Dear Mr. Anselmi, Thank you for your concerns with SB27. I have not read through this Bill yet, as it is still in the Senate and it has not been given to the House as of yet. When it does come up for a House vote, I will hear the testimony and vote accordingly. Thank you for your concerns and please contact me in the future if you have any questions or concerns. Respectfully, Rep. Lenette M. Peterson Hillsborough Dist. 19 Merrimack, NH" |
we are really starting to gain momentum. 125 in 8 hours... Our goal is 2000 this month.. Please spread the word guys!

Subject: Re: Please support SB 27 I appreciate your concern regarding SB27. Please know that I am a co-sponsor of this bill. Representative Guy Comtois |
I have also feilded a couple of questions. Most of the stuff I got back so far was "canned" responses. Lets hope that they start to understand that we are not that unreasonable. I would be in favor if limiting speeds on parts of the lake if they left the Broads alone. I think that is a decent compromise really. The rest of the lake is ussually to crowded to run at speed anyhow.

You have my support . I'm the vacationer that comes down once a year . What a great lake to boat . Don't let them take away a treasure .

Thanks David.. I don't know why a Rep. would use their work email for Legislative business but I have passed it along to have her removed.

And another...
I would have to disagree with you on SB 27 , It is in Committee but it looks like, by its text there is nothing defined in it for speed. What you might think is a reasonable speed is may not be what I think is reasonable. I could not vote for this the way it is written. Thanks for writing James C. Webb SR. Done. Good luck.

Boat on the cape instead now. |

I've been getting back support emails from the Reps. and only 2 neg. ones
Keep the push on ! |

Thank you for contacting me regarding Senate Bill 27, which replaces the speed limit for Lake Winnipesaukee with a general limit for all vessels and modifies the penalties for boating violations. Currently SB27 has been referred to the Transportation Committee where a hearing date has not been set. As a member of this committee I will be examining the bill very closely and I appreciate you taking the time to contact me. As a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, I have supported boating speed limits on Lake Winnipesaukee in the past. I am very much looking forward to hearing testimony on this bill and I will be sure to keep your concerns in mind as it comes to the Senate floor for a vote. Thank you again for contacting me, and please feel free to contact me if you have any other State issues or legislation I can assist you with. Sincerely, Nancy Stiles NH Senate - District 24 |
I got this rude response in with the other reponses....
