You get the dog?? Labs love the water and boats. Our does. Ive had him out on ours the problem is out on the st lawrence there is very few sandy spots. So its islands then drop off to 200ft. So you have to get out and swim with him to shore and swim back and its paint to get back on the fountain with no swim steps But he still comes sometimes. Had goldens and labs out on our family boats for the last 25 years and the dogs have never done any damage to the boats minus the hair and water. Keep the claws trimmed and youll be fine. The vinyl in boats is pretty good stuff.
Adopting a dog is one of the greatest feelings. MY dog that i got when I was in college thats at my parents house now with them is a great dog, getting old now and only has a few years left in him. But its a great thing to do. Rescue dogs seem to always have that thankfullness look in their eye, kind of seems they knew what situation they were in. |
I have a rescue dog right now that needs a home. My wife saved her last week from being put down and we have 3 more weeks to find her a permanent home. Female black lab mix about 2 years old. Nice friendly dog that loves water. Anyone?

i have people always asking where our dog is when we are out, i notice that most who take their dogs are medium to small breeds, our rotti loves the water and is a small girl, @104lbs, but i just can't bring myself to having her on the boat for fear of scratches and holes in the vinyl

The big guy gets to go on day trips with the old classic, but the Donzi is too hard for him to get in and out of without scratching it up.

Took Scooby, a cooler full of jell-o shots and the new Ping G-20 driver out last Friday. Killed off a bunch of golf balls the local douchebags hit into my yard from the Westchase #5 fairway. There are a bunch of new Pro-V balls in Boca Ciega bay now.
:evilb: The upholstery is showing some wear, but he's too damn fun not to have on board. He rides like a Mack truck hood ornament all day and night. |
Dogs f'ing rule. Next subject.

We have four labs that all boat. We used to take them all together but our oldest is at the point where I am concerned about him hurting himself. All the others are great and are well behaved. I do keep their nails short and have never had a problem with the upholstery. They do have booties you could put on them which could relieve some of your concern regarding that. I do recommend the lifejackets though. Lighweight and does help with getting them back in the boat with minimal strain to you and them. They are fairly inexpensive for the benefits.
