That is absolutely horrible! Not to make things worse for you, but I'm going to use your story for my other clients who often tell me, "naw, I don't need insurance on it, I have it stored and I NEVER have claims!"

What's interesting, which you most likely already know, is that homeowners insurance does not automatically cover these items while stored in your garage (whether your primary residence or a rental). I find many people think the home insurance would cover it.

Again, very sorry for your loss. I recommend you keep these photos with you when you go to purchase new items. The salesperson MUST feel deeply sorry for you and slash the prices!!!

Good luck...

Devin

Sorry to hear about that.

I had a house fire 10 years ago, luckily everything was insured, and they could see it.

Since then I really review my policy's.

P.S. Word of advice, unplug your toaster over when not in use! I meet someone with the same model of Black & Decker, wrecked thier house as well, and killed their pride & joy dog.

I'm terribly sorry to read about this! Those pictures made me feel sick to my stomach while I was looking at them so I cant begin to imagine how you and your friends are feeling at this point. I sincerely wish you the best! Mark

That is horrible. Do your self a favor and hire an independent insurance negotiator. They know how to retrieve the most. So sorry, good luck.

Josh.... ask the owner of the RV if it had a Norcold refrigerator... if it does/did and the model falls into the current recall fiasco, have the Fire Dept investigate that angle... I can't tell you how many RV's have burned up due to those, I pray every day I see my coach that it hasn't burned to the ground yet.. I'm dead serious here

edit > just google RV refrigerator fires or Norcold fires

pages and pages of info

my brother just told me his 43' tag axle Newmar coach almost went up last weekend, but he smelled ammonia and unplugged it in time, close call..

don't let Norcold give you any crap about serial number issues, or out of date, if it was built before 2008 it's highly suspect..

good luck, Jim

Speechless. So sorry about your loss. I hope the insurance angle works out for you. At least you have the memories with the items and no one was injured.

Very sorry for your loss. I can relate.
What I will say is to all, review your insurance and make sure
you have replacement cost coverage. You don't want to learn
the way I did.
