I am a V guy, like a big cabin. Maybe if I hit the lotto and can buy a few I'll get a cat. That Skater was so cool when it first came out, its a shame what this economy is doing to some real nice boats.

Magicfloat 02-07-2011 08:59 PM

Interesting. That was Richard Schrusy's boat. When he went to prison, the boat wound up in FL where is was stolen and stripped.A buddy of mine tried to buy it last week from the dealer that sold it originally. He wanted 100K with no power and drives. It was a nice boat years ago with I think 1200 Sterlings. With Schrusy's legal problems it somehow wound up at Lake Cumberland Marine and I lost track of it.At 100K,it would not be a deal,IMHO.I suggested he should find a turn key Skater.Kind of a shame,in 2000 this was one of the the nicest in Alabama, but it went down, just like the owner.

22k is not the price, that was minimum bid,a tactic National Liquidators uses to find serious buyers.I think Randy Hartman has the boat now, that's who my buddy was dealing with.

Lots of interesting stories about Monopoly. After Schrusy went to prison on a criminal bribery charge he lost a civil lawsuit for 2.8 billion(yes billion) and the lawyers started seizing his bank accounts, homes, yachts, planes, etc, but the Skater slipped thru the cracks somehow. My buddy kept following the boat, hoping to pick it up cheap, but he lost track until recently. But now it is just an old, tired, stripped boat.Rumor also has it that this boat was the main cause of the big, fast boat ban on 3 Alabama lakes a few years ago that we fought so hard against.Story was that Schrusy's neighbor on Lake Martin was the president of Alabama Power Company and he got tired of the noise and the speed going close to his dock. The boat ban came out of that, according to urban legend.May not be true, but I'm bored tonite, just wanted to share a story:drink:

Min bid set the hook.:drink:

LapseofReason 02-07-2011 10:08 PM

So if nobody bids will they sell it for 22k or is it a lie? Lets face it how many people out there now will take on a project like this right now.

thumper038 02-07-2011 10:11 PM

It only states min bid, but most banks or auctions have a min reserve or it's a no sale.
We have been to many and it usually dosen't sell or the general public runs it up over a deal anyway.:coolcowboy:

LapseofReason 02-07-2011 10:19 PM

It also says may sell for less than min. bid. Now a doubt that boat would go down. I would be all over them like a fat kid on a moped if I wanted it and had the money and they kept waiting for a better offer.

Is there any rules like if you put in a offer and they have 48 hours to get a better one or sell ?

thumper038 02-07-2011 10:27 PM

When you have a hour to kill click on the bidding link at the bottom and start reading the, we will do what we want send us money options.:lolhit:

I tried to. The first day it was listed (at $75k) I told them I wanted it and I'd send them a deposit and be there with cash in couple days to pick it up (other side of the country). Said they'd get back to me and I never heard back from them again. The listing was quickly pulled, and then later relisted at $150k min. bid! No thanks!

What a beautiful boat to be in that shape! It was one of my personal favorites... Hope someone can pull it back together!

The ad says no trailer, but that sure look like the exact trailer that was built for the boat, right under it.....

I have tried a few times to purchase/bid on a boat thru national liquidators. I have posted my experiences with them several times on threads around this site. You have a shot at getting something if you can buy several at a time or can string together a group of people buying to make it look like a larger single buyer. If you are bidding and looking to buy just one vessel, it just aint going to happen. Your experience is very similar to a few of mine. I don't care what they have and how much it says the bid is. I will not waste my time with them anymore. It is a shame too because I'm willing to take on projects and have some resources (but limited) to get the job done.

joefitness123 02-08-2011 09:35 AM

I took it a step further...I showed up after calling and inquiring..I didnt let them know I had any intentions of buying..Once I arrived with COD in hand and made an offer..They had me fill out a bunch of paperwork and told me they would call me...this was 2 1/2 years ago..Not a single call yet..I told him, I will take it right know as it sits no questions asked for what they were asking..

They accept offers and wait to see if they can get a higher bidder...

They are Full of :evilb:

LapseofReason 02-08-2011 11:56 AM

I have never had any deals with them but my friend went down last spring and got an 08 36 Avanti cc they had for the price listed no problem, drove down and back with the boat in 2 days. I don't think I could handle the BS if thats how they deal, if I was going there to buy a boat and had cash and was the highest bidder I plan on leaving with the boat or in handcuffs, cant stand a slimy salesman.

JIMKID Motorsports 02-08-2011 12:21 PM

i bought a boat from the california store no problem i think the problem with showing up to buy is they are not the owners of the boats its the banks or credit unions and they have to okay the offers first

Nice boat, but if that is the kind of person I have to be to have it I'll just stick with my little boat then. It sucks when the good life runs out. I just wonder was it all worth it??

MegaByte*3 02-08-2011 08:34 PM

The problem with the trailers has nothing to do with National Liquidators. The banks typically have a lien on the boats, not the engines, drives, nor trailer. Nat Liq cannot sell the trailer because neither they, nor their customers (banks), have title to it.

I have been successful in asking them to contact the origianl owner of the trailer and making an offer.

FYI, the current bid is way over the starting bid of $22K.
