In regards to some questions the unit is not adjustable regarding temp range but it is able to sense very small differences. You would see crab traps in the water. You can see the warm water out of a stern drive in the prop wash, or foot steps on the carpet.

I would think it would give ya a false sense of security,and it wouldnt have any peripharal vision.I guess you could have someone else watch it.
