Freeze Frame is known as being the premier Offshore photo and video outfit, and contains within its libraries most, if not all, of the best moments of Offshore Racing caught on film.
That being said, and knowing that Jeff is such a superbly nice guy -- judging from all the kind words spoken about him -- I would trust that he would have it in his heart to part with a few short seconds, a half minute maximum, of footage. I see that he is an advertiser on OSO. Wouldn't it be nice to make the incident, which generated so much controversy and speculation available...Something to add to Offshoreonly's Exclusive Video library(with credits, of course)................ |
I was told by a reliable source the full footage before and after JPs crash (not just the crash) will air on OLN sat. so sit tight all will get to see it

NIT2WIN Believe it or not it becomes a big issue. Here is one example: Picture a Dorm room for a college. Some colleges have 5 separate rooms joined at one main room then the main room connects to the main hallway. Alot of people will hang out in the main room together to watch TV. It is illegal for them to have any pay channels in that main room because it becomes a public venue. Each individual can order any pay channel they want, but it would have to be in their private room. Sounds stupid, but think of the revenue a pay channel will get if they put it in 5 rooms vs 1 main room. I know this from experience because I installed the cable tv wiring in a college and had to set it up so that it could not be viewed from the main room. Damn! The offers I got from some of those girls to get me to give them HBO    Unfortunately it wasn't worth doing jail time over. I had to keep it legit!;) :D

I just read the posted "SBI" manufacturers class rules...
2 questions,
1. Does that say that Imco "shorties" are allowed? If so, then there is some speed right there. I would also assume that there is no X deminsion height rule either. 2. With the exception of the above observation, doesn't those rules sound almost identical to the rules in the APBA rule book from 3 years ago? |
I'm sure that if OSO wanted to show that footage they could. I can't imagine that John would want to face the bad publicity that would surely ensue if in fact he wanted to sue OSO and they weren't doing anything more than giving their loyal followers what they wanted with no profit in mind. On the other hand, I understand the fine line of diplomacy that Jeff and the others must face (sometimes daily) between SBI and the APBA in respecting their wishes and trying to make everyone happy. Is it fair to us? Hell no, but why should today be different than any other day? Additionally, if John wouldn't sell that footage of Campbells and J.P.'s screw up to E.T. (Entertainment Tonight) then I wouldn't hold high hopes in seeing it on OLN. I invite everyone to take a look at a new thread that I started titled SBI Ft. Myers Competitive Racing or Hollywood Magic? There are some interesting observations that I made which if correct (and they are) would mean that we racers may have to go take acting lessons and get a SAG card in order to qualify for a race.

nit2win think you should get over being booted by cambel and get on with your life the same none racers on this board t2x davep mike merola etc. etc. etc. do all the moaning while the racers are out doing what they enjoy raceing chew on that thougt for a while :D

SNGLESTACK
While your opinion is always welcomed on this board always make sure that before making an idiotic comment, you have your information right. I was never booted by Campbell and as a matter of fact it was I that locked him out of the warehouse and the company. Not that I would expect you to know but there are more than enough people who do. Everybody's opinion is worthwhile and unless you care to share your professional racing experience with me and everyone else on this board then keep the derogatory comments about myself and other members to yourself. |
People like Singlestick need to hide behind bogus names because they have no experience but yet are an expert on everything
:D :D NOT!:p :p |
Goodfella That’s the Joke the ‘Rule Book” I guess you could cut a Gasket from the covers. Or prop up a table leg that is short with it!
Best Regards :) |
I am sorry Steve but I cannot comment on that issue any longer.
Becaues of the harrasment my fellow employees got while racing in Fort Meyers. Once again my views on any topic being it abortion to drinking Pepsi or Coke are mine not of the company I work for or of any other employee. If people have issues with my views on certian topics then I wish they would talk to me directly about it without getting anyone else involved. I never lie to any man, becaues I don't fear anyone. The only time you lie is when you are afraid. Quote John Gotti |
and a free copy of Roberts Rules of Order goes to...
Ya ever wonder why
there's an alphabet soup of sanctioning bodies out there in motorsports land? It's 'cause everybody doesn't want to do things the same exact way. Personally, I think the SBI rulebook is written/laid out the way it is JUST to scare away folks that wanna complain about RULES and the enforcement thereof. F'rinstance, in SBI F-2, it would appear the only IMPORTANT rule is: To finish first, you must beat Reggie Fountain's boys. You like this rule? Then You race SBI. Don't like this rule? Find an organization with rules you like. :D :D :D :D :D :D |
Goodfella,
it sucks when that happens....:( Sorry to hear your fellow co-workers got harrassed and then ultimately you. |
First I would like to say i am new to the site and I think it's great. I have been reading all of the posts regarding the SBI race and the possibility of cheating. I have been jumping back and forth from the SBI site to the APBA site and I must say it does appear there may be something going on. If you look at the average speeds of F-2 in SBI and F-2 in APBA there is a susbstancial differance actually 5 tp 6 MPH. From talking to people at both events the water was about the same. NOW HERE IS THE INTERSTING PART! Muscle Racing is a SUPER V with (Twin 1000s I believe). Invensys Fountain is a factory 2 with (twin 500's). Now there average speed is only 2 miles an hour less then the super V's. I have a hard time with this. I am dialing in my 37 Outerlimits with twin staggered 500 efi's. I am planing to start racing it in June in SBI. I promise you, If they want my boat in there circuit the first 3 boats are going to be dynoed or I will be putting up my checkbook for The $2500 to have the winners motors torn down. I did not just get done spending over $400k to get beat by racer's using questionble methods or "Bumping it up" as another member referred to in an earlier post.
SUPER V WINNER AVG.SPEED V-2 Muscle 84.9 85.5 83.7 86.1 27.0 85.11 FACTORY 2 WINNER AVG. SPEED F2-15 Invensys Fountain 83.2 84.6 85.2 79.4 27.0 83.08 |
Welcome, New to this site? with a 40' Skater you are not new to racing. Were you at Skaterfest? What is the name of tyour boat? Tell us about yourself.
Philip |
Hi Phillip, Thank you! No I wasn't at Skaterfest. My Skater is having it's new Sterlings installed this week and should be ready for the Long Weekend. I wish I could have made it!! I use my Skater for pleasure. I just set up an Outerlimits that will be ready for racing in June!
|
NYspeeddemon, Outerlimits, F-2? you should have stopped in. Mike D' From Sterling was there both days. You could have gotten him to throw a few more HP in. Which engines are you getting? Where do you run the Skater? what is the name? we run a 32' classic outboard.
|
I wasn't at the race this past weekend. My Skater is named The Ultimate Sin. My outerLimits will be named what ever the sponsor with the most money wants it to be. I keep my boat in Jersey but do a lot of New York boating in the Summer California in the winter.
|
NYspeed, Good luck with the OL, I am sure that by the time you start to race it you will be one of the OSO family, and we will be cheering you on. I will watch for your first start, and then your first win. Hope to see your Skater some time this summer. If you see a 32' Skater trying to catch you, (note i said trying) stop and say hello.

NYSpeeddemon Welcome to the OSO Family...Good luck with both your boats.

Welcome NYSpeeddemon to OSO.
As for motors in SBI......everyone knows I am not a fan of SBI or Mr. C who runs the show. But, I will tell you in conversation with an SBI racer yesterday, one F-2 Boat in SBI is running 625+ per side and still could not catch the winning boats. SBI also has had a dyno for over a year and they still can't get it / or don't want it to work. There is nothing wrong with racing with only 20 something boats at a race - at least make sure everyone in every class is evenly matched. Lap times & speeds don't lie. |
Hey Mike - don't love guys with ______ the size of peanuts that hide behind bogus names? Must be related to Pipeline05 :D :D

Dave
You got 800 post ???:D |
Mike, DaveP has been on a roll...er lately....:D :D :D

While normally I would agree with you, in this case the only thing that JP is guilty of is ignorance and trusting his T-man's ability to guide and teach him how to drive that boat. Campbell was and still is extremely irresponsible for letting Priestly get behind the wheel of that boat with no racing experience and no wheel time, unless of course you count spending an hour out on the flat waters of Biscayne Bay making ultra wide turns and going fast in a straight line as experience. It's bad enough that Campbell with his ego was looking to ride off the coattails of J.P.'s media attention, the least he could of done was formulate a game plan, i.e. stay on the outside of the course, stay away from the other boats, I want you to take nice, easy, wide turns until you get the feel of the boat underneath you. Isn't that what an experienced anybody is supposed to do with a rookie, much less one that has never been behind the wheel of anything more than a sailboat (that's what J.P. said in a T.V. interview) much less a Superboat? Even to this day Priestly has no extra wheel time in the boat. He just shows up at the race, gets in the boat and says, "lets go racing". I'm sure that the similarity of all the Superboat avg. lap speeds in the Ft. Myers race was no coincidence, Carbonell was probably smart enough to ask the other Superboat racers to slow it down a bit and make a show of it for the first 10-12 laps and then sprint it to the finish line. If this was the case (and I'm almost sure it was) then he should be commended for figuring out a way to keep everyone safe. Lord knows he can't trust Campbell anymore and has himself in a pickle if he wants to keep J.P. racing and who wouldn't with all the media exposure he is getting? As T2x stated that after 10 years it doesn't look as though Campbell is going to get any better. I can personally attest that his reaction time is getting slower and slower every season, he has no crew chief, the race team is made up of 2 employees (of which one is his nephew and lives with him) the rest are volunteers, no team uniforms, no corporate sponsors (they left when I left) Don't you think that J.P. deserves a better shot at racing? |
answer to Rubens question
Ruben Bermuda was nice enough to ask me a question in regards to my experience in driving Superboats with rudder systems. I thought I would answer his question on this board so that I could educate anyone who had an interest. As you may or may not know the Jag that J.P. is driving has a fixed drive rudder system. This is very different than the conventional #6's you see on most boats. Obviously with the #6's you have better control and abilities especially when it comes into turns, the sacrifice for this is drag and sometimes speed. The 48' Jaguar was designed by Michael Peters of the European Tencara fame. Being that our last 46' Jag ran with Arneson surface drives this was a perfect fit. Because you only have one rudder controlling a 20,000 pound boat going at speeds in excess of 160 mph control was and is always an issue. This beast has a mind of its own and the best you can do is nurture it to where you want it to go. The turns are a completely different set of circumstances because unlike alot of the European boats that run with the same set up, this Jag has POWER STEERING so you cannot feel the turns in your arms, instead you must feel the turn with the seat of your pants and as you feel the boat starting to come out from underneath you, one can start to make the necessary adjustments. Making hard, fast turns takes alot of pratice, patience and experience as this is like nothing J.P.'s ever experienced before. From what I saw, it looked to me like Jason turned the boat like he did the day before in Biscayne bay making wide slow turns (Afterall, that's all he knew) The boat didn't react, Dan ran through Riviera's roostertail momentarily blinding the both of them with the wash and BAMM they ran into Pier 57. Could Dan have come off the throttles sooner? YES Could Dan have used the tunnel flap as a brake? YES Could Dan have buried the fixed drives into the water? YES Could Dan have kept J.P. to the outside in preparation for the turn? Yes Why didn't he? Well that's the problem. Was it blind faith or just plain stupidity? You be the judge!
