Where did the "SBI Cheating" go?

This morning this thread was started. Where did it go?

PhantomChaos 05-20-2002 10:03 AM

Probabaly the guy had second thoughts..........I read it last night (about 1:30 PST). I'm sure he didn't want any problems.

BODYSHOT1 05-20-2002 10:03 AM

Deleted

the starter may have deleted it..Steve David gave a pretty good response in the racers area, and the guy apologized...

Philip 05-20-2002 10:07 AM

Thanks guys. I thought I was going crazy, looked for it, but not there.
Philip

DaveP 05-20-2002 10:33 AM

I can't find Steve David's response. Can someone post a link?

BODYSHOT1 05-20-2002 10:40 AM

Dave,

Looks like it was deleted with the entire thread..

Dredgeking 05-20-2002 10:42 AM

It was deleted at the request of the person who started the post.

SHARKEY-IMAGES 05-20-2002 10:50 AM

Sometime posts can just go in the wrong direction and we have to self moderate so things don't get too out of hand. I guess this one may have started doing so. I just wish when someone does delete a post, that they save a copy of it for reference if someone had a question about something in particuliar.

NIT2WIN 05-20-2002 10:53 AM

Darn and that thread was just starting to get good even if it was off the initial post subject matter. I thought Jennifer had a great idea about having Jeff at freeze frame set up a pay per view of the Campbell/Priestly accident. Heck he could have made more money selling that 60 second footage at the Skaterfest then he makes selling the whole SBI race series all year long. It definitely belongs in the Greatest Blunders by an experienced T-man of all time category. You know the same guy who got beat out by Betty Cook (how long ago did she pass away?) and took dead last in the Legends of Offshore poll last year. I will say that I was reading US magazine and their was Priestly smiling away with his Switlik on talking about how he avoided flipping the boat. I guess their is some truth to the addage sensational news is better than no news at all.

Audiofn 05-20-2002 11:02 AM

NIT2WIN: Funny how Plumbgirl never replied to us when we confronted her with the trueth!!! I tell ya if is so funny how people can put spins on thing. Let me see. When I realized that we were going to hit Pier57 I made a phone call to God and asked him to make a temporary alteration in the gravitational pull on our boat so that we would not flip :D:D

Jon

NIT2WIN 05-20-2002 11:08 AM

So you heard that one too huh? LOL

NIT2WIN 05-20-2002 11:10 AM

The best is Campbell going around telling everyone that the angle of the camera from the video footage does not accurately reflect what actually happened.

DaveP 05-20-2002 11:24 AM

Anyone know how many boats were at Ft. Myers?

NIT2WIN 05-20-2002 11:24 AM

Just got off the phone with my bookie. Vegas is laying 200 to 1 odds that we will not see the accident from the SBI Miami race on OLN this Saturday. Any takers?

DaveP 05-20-2002 11:26 AM

I'm in with a "fitty" :D :D

boot 05-20-2002 11:29 AM

I saw that tape at skaterfest too ! WOW ! THere is NO thought involved there . The picture is worth 10,000 words !

deepvcatss12 05-20-2002 01:36 PM

NIT2WIT
I like essay money, pass on your bookies number

OffshoreOnly 05-20-2002 01:55 PM

If you fly to OSO headquarters you can see the DVD version live.

NIT2WIN 05-20-2002 02:04 PM

BETTER YET How about you OSO guys putting that Miami accident on your MOVIES section of the website????

Tinkerer 05-20-2002 02:20 PM

I second that - put it up for all to see.

NIT2WIN 05-20-2002 02:39 PM

DaveP

Looks like there were 23 boats that showed up to race in Ft. Myers on Sunday.

Goodfella 05-20-2002 03:23 PM

I think the guys login name was omcdeal. It was pretty ballsy thread. To bad it got axed it would have been a good one!

Goodfella 05-20-2002 03:37 PM

Hey Troutly,
What challenge?

JFM311 05-20-2002 04:29 PM

the teardown to see if the motor was leagal challenge--i would rather see the motors pulled and dynoed---i have heard alot of hp500 motors--those sound a little different---

Goodfella 05-20-2002 08:41 PM

Hey JFM311,
Thanks for the info I agree. Send them to CRE!

OffshoreOnly 05-20-2002 09:42 PM

We would love to post movies of the races but the rights belong to SBI and without their permission we can not post.

Well then, get on the horn and get it done. :D

Goodfella 05-20-2002 10:05 PM

Troutly,
You are right it was a very sporting challenge but who was gonna be the mediator? Someone that is impartial to both sides of the coin. I guess money talks and BULL**** walks. Mr. Threadstarter did not want to play.

Steve 1 05-20-2002 10:31 PM

Here is an Excerpt from the SBI Rule book ? Now 2 of these Engines with parameters Specked out below are going to push an 11-12 Meter Vee hull @100 MPH LMAO Now that my friend requires a giant leap of Imagination Using only Line 11 of 13.8.2 ! DaveP 05-20-2002 10:42 PM

How many people here have been told by a few SBI F-2 racers (within the last 12-18 months & don't mention names) that they needed to "bump up their engines" to even try and stay close to the "cheaters" in F-2? I know quite a few and no it is not "hear say." It came from the horses mouths.

I even know of a local 'L' class boat that got walked by one of the F-2 boats and this "L" class boat has 750hp a side!

Steve 1 05-20-2002 10:52 PM

Hey Guys I am just joking around kind of parlaying the obvious, whatever it takes to stay competive. F2 is a tough class!!

:)

I'm sure OSO would "get it done" if we all paid membership fees so that OSO could pay the licensing fee to SBI for the footage of the 9021OOHHHsh#t!

Goodfella 05-21-2002 08:17 AM

Hey Steve 1,
Thanks for the info on SBI rules:D The main question is after each race who is inforcing these rules written by the sanctioning body? Are they making sure that the top 3 finishing boats in the class are running by the rules stated in there rule book?

NIT2WIN 05-21-2002 09:44 AM

SUNSEEKER

I agree with you in regards to any film footage of the SBI race. I'm sure that John owns the rights to the television show that is edited by Diamond P and shown on OLN but I would think that Jeff and John C. have some sort of agreement giving them both rights to any film footage shot by Freeze Frame. Now if Jeff has the right to sell his version to the general public then why wouldn't someone have the right to view it in a public venue? One problem I might see is if OSO made this a pay per view event and profited from it then I could see SBI stepping in and crying fowl taking the position that OSO was monetarily benefiting from a race that is licensed to SBI. Keep it free I'm sure John wouldn't mind the exposure and if he did you would truly have to wonder why?

Rico's Revenge 05-21-2002 09:51 AM

Goodfella and Steve 1, I could use some input on the "WTF is up with F2" thread.

BODYSHOT1 05-21-2002 10:46 AM

...I guess we SkaterFest'ers are of the luck few to view the tape?? :D

SHARKEY-IMAGES 05-21-2002 11:51 AM

Skaterfest had the tape? No, I think that was someone's personal video who offered to show it...;) ;)

Philip 05-21-2002 12:37 PM

Sharkey, Good Answer, that was a personal tape,, But many of us did see the footage, as a matter of fact, i think the rewind button needs a tune up, too many rewinds. The clip is wild, the JP boat never turned, they went from the inside of the turn, straight thru the corner, just missed a few other boats and exited the turn right into the side of DW's boat. Untill you see the actual hit, and the force involved, enough to spin DW's boat around you think it was in slow motion. If I was JP I would buy up every copy and burn them.

supercrash 05-21-2002 12:53 PM

Are you telling me that this "footage" won't pop up on a site somewhere for us to view..Com on already...some one leak it out ..Puder if you hold the video then find a way for us to see it ...Give it to someone else to post just for a half an hour..It sounds to good to not be seen..:)
