Are there other options besides lifeline jackets?

Ive been lookin around on Google and havent found any racing jackets that seem to be of similar quality to the Lifeline brand.

Does anyone have experience with any brands besides them?

All i can seem to find are "high speed lifejackets, perfect for todays PWC's and performance bassboats" :lolhit:

I think mustang has a speed rated jacket. I don't know if it is race quality.

Is this the one you're referring to?

Im definately not tryin to be cheap on safety! Just makin sure Im gettin the best I can get.. Not saying that price isn't a concern, but Id rather spend a few more and get whats best and at least know WHY i spent what I did!

I have NEW SRP (security race products) lackets for sale. They are offshore race jackets.

waterboy222 03-04-2011 09:50 AM

Just from looking at old posts on here, it seems the SRP and the lifeline jackets are comparable but the SRPs dont come with a collar. Am I reading that right?

I got one of the Mustang jackets (MV4601) about 5-6 years ago. I use it once a year to satisfy the LOTO Shootout rules.

Now, just watch how many people jump in with their opinion on using anything less than a Lifeline is "stupid". There will be a bunch of folks on here who pile on saying "why trust your life to anything but the best - just buy a lifeline".

Here's my response - My boat tops out well under 100 MPH. I have to use the jacket once a year during the Shootout. My jacket costs less than $100, meets the Shootout requirements and let's me have a good time.

Am I taking a risk by not using Lifeline? Maybe, but I believe it is a very, very small risk. There have been many racers killed while wearing a Lifeline so having one does not provide a 100% guarantee that I am fully protected.

That's the beauty of being an American. In most areas of my life I have the freedom to choose which risks I am willing to live with. In this matter, I've done the risk analysis and made my choice. Those with alot more disposable income than I have, can make a different choice.

If I was racing or boating at well over 100MPH on a regular basis, then my decision would have been different.
