Fort Lauderdale, FL. Tres Martin’s Performance Boat School recently concluded the first of a series of training sessions for the U.S. Navy. Originally intended as a one-time training session, the successful outcome resulted in the scheduling of additional sessions.
The Navy Operators recognized early on, that their existing “Train the Trainer” program was not addressing critical foundational skills required to properly operate small craft. The ability to maintain as much forward speed but yet keep the craft as comfortable as possible in heavy seas is critical to mission accomplishment for the Navy coxswains and crew.
In addition to the Navy; Tres Martin’s Performance Boat School has instructed small craft operators from the U.S. Coast Guard and foreign Customs/Boarder patrols. Brad Schoenwald, an instructor with Tres Martin’s Performance Boat School and 20+ year veteran of the US Coast Guard, stated “It has become very apparent that there are many misconceptions and inappropriate operational techniques being taught to our defense and security forces by existing training organizations. These newly trained operators have now experienced the correct training and now have the ability to properly operate their craft.” Tres Martins Performance Boat School is the only skill based boating school in the world to be recognized by the insurance industry and boat manufacturers alike and will be the first Performance Boat School to be accredited by Powerboat Safety International.
