Tampa area boating
Just inked the deal on the new boat and heading south thursday night to hook on to it.
After the sea-trial that morning, I'd like to run the boat around the bay area and maybe out to the ocean for a run along the coast for lunch. Its a 24'er so I dont want to get into anything TOO rough my first weekend with it. Does anyone have any recommendation on a good lunch stop somewhere in the area that would get us some good boating? |
Nick ( Cigdaze ) can answer that one for sure.

Get James to come down to Sarasota with you on Saturday and we'll go out down here......

How far is the trip from tampa to sarasota? Would it be worth just trailering the boat down there and launching? |
Yea it's less than and hour south with some great boating
|
Drop the boat in at Gandy, you can come down into downtown Tampa, go up the Hilsbourgh river on the right side the New Curtis Hixon Park opened up, dock there My place Taps is across the street walk over have lunch and I'll buy you a few drinks, then you can take a ride upto Ricks on the river 2 min up the river. And the you can stop in to Hulla Bay over next to the Gandy ramp.

If the boat is where you told me. Your best bet will be to luanch on the intercoastal on Park Blvd. http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/10_Park_Blvd.htmTake a quick ride south on the intercoastal to Gators, have lunch and if your feeling good head out John's pass for a little run in the Gulf.
Or http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/m...n/war_vets.pdf this Ramp might actually be close and it is a closer ride to Gators and out Johns Pass. |
Where you going to be in Tampa ? I would drop in somewhere and head over to the Clearwater area!!!! Tons to do over there......

Missing a important part of the picture!! What you get?
|
Congratulations! Got your PM. PM sent.
:) |
Thanks! I checked out gators, that sounds like it'd be a good run. I think we stopped there during the st Pete PRA run a few years ago.

Your PM box is full, but anyway:
Right on man. Nice boat. I've seen it around, good for you, congratulations!! Unfortunately, I don't think our schedules will coincide. I'm leaving Friday late afternoon so I don't think we'll be able to hook up. Anyway, if you need advice or directions let me know. Gators is a great spot. Nice run up the outside. |

Great ramp - But beware of my friends

This is a great ramp. Also, Just north of Bay Pines Blvd is Bay pines marina. However, beware of my friends. They rest up at Bay pines and then come out and chat with us power boaters, whether we want to chat or not. The waters in this area have a lot of idle zones and if my memory serves the speed limit is 30 mph. You also need to make sure you stay between the markers heading out towards John's Pass. There is a fairly hard bend and getting out of the channel isn't a good plan. This is a great area on weekends with several areas to hang out on the sand bars. I hope you have a great time with the new boat. If you have to go into Bay Pines, Chris and Mike are great. |
Congrats!

Towards the end of last summer I can't remember what month exactly, but I kept my boat there for a few months and saw you take yours out a few times. All I can say is your boat is spotless and stunning!! Very nice ride. Definitely stands out in the crowd. Mittens gators is a good place to have lunch as is shepherds, caddy's is also a nice place but problem is you can't go up to shore with your boat, you gotta anchor a little ways out and swim in but the scenery at caddy's is very nice if you know what I mean. Shepherds you can go right up to shore with your boat, it's also a good time there. A lot of choices in the bay area. Gators has a bikini contest on sunday's I believe around 8 which is definitely a good time |
