Okay...I am looking for a copy of a certain Hotboat issue. 2 copys if I can find. Would be 1990-1993 ( I think?). Has a white and pink 25 Motion w/twin 2.4s on the cover. Anyone? Thanks.

I just looked through what I have here in the garage at home & didn't see it, but I will look at the shop tomorrow.. As soon as I read your description I instantly seen a snapshot of it in my pea-sized brain, as one of the many mags I've looked at a zillion times so I think I have it somewhere.. I will look tomorrow & let you know if I come up with it.. Now I feel as if I should be on a mini version of the show "Horders"

BTW it was really fun going through these old issues. I really miss this magazine. Since when did it become all about testing big off-shore boats that cost a half mil plus? There is so much good reading in these old mags that I'm going to keep them out for awhile. The test on the Fountain 24 was cool. Although truly only a 22' boat (minus beak and swim platform) it ran over 76 mph with a 502.

Not trying to hi jack your thread...but im also trying to track down the october 1994 issue of hot boat. My boat was the profile 290 test boat in that issue. Would be neat to have.

This post really gets at the core of my problem with todays boating rags.

This stuff is written for the top .01% of boaters.

Not "regular" guys. The big stuff always gets the big news, but who actually buys that stuff with any regularity.

No limits: I looked throught what I have at the shop today & didn't see it, however I know I have it somewhere & would continue to look but it looks like you have it covered.. ;-)

I am a bit of a magazinge junkie myself and have rarely tossed any of them however about 6 months before I bought my Saber I tossed about 10 orso old hotboats that had been around the shop for ages & out of the 100's of other mags one of them happened to be one of the issues with the 28 saber in it.. haha..

In the Oct. '94 issue is an index of boat tests. There is nothing for "Saber". Could it be under a different name? Otherwise I'll assume it's a later issue (which I may still have).

You know, that's exactly the kind of thing that Powerboat should be doing. A 6 part build up of a big hp N/A 502. It would keep people coming back for the next issue. I can't believe all the prop tests in these olds Hot Boats too. And not just a "Teague on Tech" but separate tech Q&A's for jets, outboards & IOs and sometimes for V-drive. All written by different experts. I'd like to send a bunch to Powerboat and say "read and learn".......

Wow, you have one. I would love to hear the performance numbers and opinions on the Motion. I have a 25 Motion with twin 300xs. Just curious how it compares.

Hey Jo, good to hear from you bro.. So with my 2 favorite 28's in one issue I really have to have it now !! Maybe even frame them up like I did with the add you guys ran in the early 90's of the solid white 28 after your dad won designer of the year in 1990.. Man I looked that add over as a teenager no less than a few million times dreaming of owning one some day and after 3 of them I still love the timeless look !!! Btw: Tell the old man I said Hey !!

(Thirdchildhood) I'm really not sure what year it was ? Pantera Jo may know ? I know powerboat had a couple mags with the 28 Saber & as a matter of fact it was the first under 30'er to ever win "powerboat of the year" I hope I'm not getting the 2 mags confused, but I'm confident if Jo said one of them was in the same issue as one of their 28 twins then its somewhere in the 94-95 range..

I also wanna say that I Really do appreciate you taking the time to look through this stuff !! Whether I ever directly benefit from it or not.. So many of us around here looked through these old mags 15-20 yrs ago & lusted like a 12 yr. old boy staying up till 2am to catch a flick on showtime.. haha !!

Powerplay J, I found the Powerplay issue from 1993. It has a Powerplay 33' Sport Deck on the cover and a review inside. It's in excellent condition. I did not find one from 1996 but my collection is not complete. Find out which issue and I'll look again. $6 shipped. Send PM.

LittleNCS rodshop, I found the test of a Saber 28 Cyclone in the March '96 issue. It's also in excellent condition. $6 shipped. send PM.

JP, I could not find the "Blown Fear" DCB in any 2000 or 2001 issues but I'm missing a few. Get me the exact issue and I'll look again.
