I have available for delivery before Cowes a brand new Stirling 34 fitted with four seats, 3/4 canopy or open and twin Verado 350's rigged ready to go with fuel tanks but no electronics other than standard engine instrumentation. This includes all of the power steering and standard Smartcraft gauges - nothing needed to drive this boat... away!

Motors are brand new in the crates, the boat would fit into Class C (stock) marathon class with a weight limit of 2800kg it will be quick!

ONLY £77,500 plus VAT!

The best rough water boat for it's size has to be the 27 ACTIVATOR. 7 time National champ,4 time world champ.

What he said!

That is a great price (I think) as they are a pair of motors the importer has in stock and a once only price - Yanmar 260's are around £20,000 each over here so the basic boat with seat motors and controls with drives ready to drive away would be £90,000 without shipping and taxes.

What are the advantages of a narrow beam boat?

ajrdonzi18 03-18-2011 02:49 PM

Good narrow beam boat

I have to go ACTIVATOR 27 !! Narrow beam boats offer less hull surface area, therefore less hydro-dynamic drag due to less wetted surface - others smarter than I will hopefully chime in too on this.

Stick with a single engine

You are right, that loss of life was not at all motor related. They would have died sooner if the boat had twin engines. The extra weight aft reduces freeboard, so they would have swamped and flipped even earlier if they had twins. This is a big issue on any boat that goes offshore: you need plenty of freeboard, especially aft. Remember that engine room air intakes are often lower than the gunwale, so that's often how water gets in.

I strongly suggest you stick with single engine. Twin engines are NOT safer, you'll break down twice as often, your service costs are about triple (not just double), and your fuel costs (behind your truck as well as on the water) will be much more, not double but probably 20% to 40% more.

You need a vessel assist subscription, and file a float plan, when you go out on the gulf or ocean.

I am taking the twins out of my boat, and going with a single.
