Hey Shane, I'm an idiot too! I took a few posts before I knew what was going on.
No thanks, pass the SPF 2000. |
DaveM,
Good meeting you this weekend my man!:D |
Well, I hate to be the "downer" on this topic, but since I'm a Dermatology Nurse, I have to put in my .02. You all know where this is going, huh! On second thought, you are all big girls and boys and can figure this out for yourself, so I will skip the lecture.:D I say since we all have to die someday, let's go having fun on our boats in the sun:D Just a tip though, if you have to have your sun, (and don't we all) please use plenty of sunscreen and avoid burning at all costs. The burns increase your chances of Malignant Melanoma significantly. Also, stay out of the tanning booths...they are the absolute worst for you skin.;) Wait a minute, I said I wouldn't lecture didn't I....
Have fun this summer and be careful....after all, what's a Tbikini without a tan. (Too bad I'm a red head) |

I love red heads....:)
just thought I'd be a gentleman and offer myself to you ladies to check for any "smiles" before , during and after tanning.. I know those can be quite pesky...... :) |
Jennifer,
Ultraviolet electromagnetic rays are precicely what cause your skin to turn that golden color and it is exactly what tanning beds are emitting. There are two varieteies, UVA and UVB. UVB is short wave UV light and is the most harmful. UVA has a slightly longer wavelength and is generally known to be less harmful, but not by much. Tanning beds filter out the majority of UVB but not completely. Either way, it is still bad. |
Being someone interested in owning a salon, I have done quite a bit of study on this topic. Spend the $$ and go to a better bed. The uv rays are different. Also no matter what DO NOT BURN!!!!
That is the worst thing to do. Also wear EYE protection To avoid the smiles I sit on the bed while applying the rest of my lotion. 4-5 minutes. I still got the smiles when I just turned over. Nasty can verify the lack of them.:D |
How much does a good tanning bed cost, preferably a stand-up model?
Thank you, Jennifer |
Tanning Beds and Skin Cancer
A dermatologist friend once told me that a tanning bed is just like a human sized microwave oven, different waves(UV) versus micro but just about as good for you.

I really embarrassed myself once at a tanning salon....as I was in the bed for several min. I started to get sweaty...then, I wiggled around a litttle and the arch of my back became like a big suction cup...IT MADE THE LOUDEST (you know what) SOUND!!! I heard some girls laughing out in the entry way...talk about embarrassing!!!:D
