They went on to discover that a boat prop at idle speed, generates sound frequency's that Manatees do not hear until they are almost on top of them, but a boat prop at higher speed, generates sound frequency's that Manatees hear sometimes miles away.

Going at idle speed gives the Manatee a second or two to react and avoid your prop. Going faster gives the Manatee sometimes a minute or more to turn away and be far from your prop.

It doesnt matter what they here. Deer hear and see but sometimes change direction 180 deg. when they run. Usually right in your path of travel..

I keep feeding them, and have cold water fountains spraying off my dock to get as many behind my house as I can, then Im going to take some pictures, send them to the state and get a sweet no wake zone for my house too. Hopefully that helps the property value, and protects my boat.

Sarcasm above, manatee zones are pretty much pointless.

Unsane,
Good data there thanks,
The Feds, Fl. State, and of course the $MC ignored all this research!
