PokerRun388 04-17-2011 08:36 PM

Im going HOTROD... I can't wait, and I hope the weather is warmer this year,,,, w/o any rain.... Can't wait too see and the beautiful boats/trucks on the blvd thurs nite......

Also too,, last year all the boats that were at the street party lined up in front of the nautical inn at 10am,, so I got there around 9am and was able to take all the pics I wanted w/o any people in them.... hard to do at the street party,, too many people....so if u wanna drive over there in the morning, thats pretty fun....:drink:

Have a safe trip from CO....

WildThing47 04-17-2011 08:37 PM

Pat, are u going?

WildThing47 04-17-2011 09:57 PM

I'm 2500+ miles away...my engines are out and I have offers on my boat, no I'm not going....

I don't really do the west coast runs, it's too far to drag...plus I don't have time...

are u gonna buy another OL when your's sells?

WildThing47 04-17-2011 10:09 PM

I'm thinkin' about a few things...we'll see what happens.

Someone's going to get a great boat, I'm just looking in a few different directions.

WildThing47 04-17-2011 10:28 PM

I'm considering allot of things, but dont want to start another boat until this one is gone, I've learned in the past it's generally a bad idea.... :)

I'm presuming you mean justice, johnny o's old boat, beautiful...

We'll see what happens..

WildThing47 04-17-2011 11:45 PM

That's great, on a side note...

It's saying things like that, you're shocked he wasn't happy with it, he was very happy with the boat, he just wanted something smaller...be careful how you phrase things..

Where were you able to find rooms this late? I ended up with the last few rooms at the Days Inn and that was a month ago!

All of the resorts I called were booked out..

Justice has 1075's...

I've been throwing the idea around of some Green Merc 700's instead of them and having one hell of a boat that would run like crazy with little to worry about...

LESSONLEARNED 04-19-2011 04:43 PM

I've always been curious about that. I hear it can get sketchy in spots. I reconed the area last year and decided Laughlin was to shallow/scary for me. I've been told that boaters in the Laughlin area often use the tide (dam release) to time their boat outing. Have you run all the way to Laughlin?
Not hijacking, I'll be in Laughlin too, looking for day trips.

I wouldn't try it if I were you, there are some really shallow areas up river. A couple of years ago I was boating up near Laughlin and banged my prop up on some rocks. After that when I go to Laughlin I just go to lake Mohave or drive down to Jack Smith and launch there to run down river.

Dkahnjob 04-24-2011 07:57 PM

Two years ago I took my Fountain from Lake Havasu Cat Tail Cove all the way up to Davis Dam and back. It was a fun run, but the water was unusually high, I wouldn't try it if the water wasn't way up, also helps to know the river, there are some areas that you can get in trouble if not familiar. It is a pretty easy run from Havasu up to Needles, only dicey area is just at the top of the lake where there are sand bars, once past that no problem.

x2. where is the best ramp to drop in??

Dkahnjob 04-24-2011 09:24 PM

Are you going to be in Havasu City. If so the Windsor ramp is good, on the North ramp be careful there are some shallow spots, but they are marked with bouys. Also the Marina is good, but they charge about $10 or $15 and late in the day they may be full in the parking lot. If you want to go south of town (toward Parker) the Cat Tail Cove launch ramp is one of the best kept secrets of Lake Havasu. Nice ramp, really nice rangers, they will give you a ride to the upper parking lot in a golf cart and you can park there. It is a 10 or 20 minute boat ride to the North to get to Havasu City from there.
I would avoid the Site 6 ramp on the island if your boat is 25' or more, although it is free there is a hump in the ramp and some longer trailers get hung up on the hump.
Have fun.
