Default 30ft Shadow Cat in Buffalo NY "Air Express"

Saw this boat listed on craigslist today. Anyone know the history of it? Was it a race boat at some point? I remember as a kid in the early 90s seeing it parked at the public beach in Crystal Beach on weekends. I can honestly say this was the boat that started my fascination with offshore performance boats. I remember it use to run with an all white cat that looked the exact same. Any idea what it would run with the triple 200s? Is it a reliable setup? Not interested in buying it, just looking for some details on this cool ride!

Cheers,
Josh

Don't know anything about it but I like it. Bet it screams with the tripps. Seems like a lot of dough though.

I guess Doug doesn't want phone calls because he didn't give his area code.

since the ad in from buffalo you might just use that area code (716) are you gonna call and buy it CAT? ...... That would probably run 85-90 with 200's. Classic boat for sure.

Ryan is right on the speeds.

I don't ever remember seeing that one racing. If it did, it wasn't on any major circuits. Looks like the "pleasure" cockpit is original too.

Still a great looking boat.

The interior looks familiar. It may be the original NY Boat Show pleasure boat we made. If the Hull number has an 80 or 81 in it, that's the boat.... Other than that, it looks good. As far as speed is concerned with a pair of 's the original louvered 2.4's, Shadow cats ran 72-75 mph...Adding a 3rd engine upped the anti 10-12 mph. Tom Akoury got the most speed out of triples back then. By the time the race 2.4's (240 hp) rolled around, the speeds had escalated to the mid 90's, but you must also remember that these were stripped race hulls and not fully laden pleasure boats like this one.... I would subtract 5 mph for all of that additional weight.

Someone should buy this hull and donate it to my collection.

I assure you that there will be no Kenyan income taxes to pay as a result....
