Default Don Aronow Race just 5 months to go!!!

The Second Annual Don Aronow Memorial Around Long Island Race is just 5 months away.

May, June, July, August, and then on September 24th the fleet will take off for another 271 mile endurance marathon, around Long Island, NY.

HORBA recently selected Peters and May as our official shipper. We hope to have some of the Cowes offshore race teams coming over for our races also.....see below.

PETERS & MAY TO BE OFFICIAL TRANSPORTER

AND LOGISTICS PROVIDER FOR HORBA

Historic Offshore Race Boat Association Recognizes Professionalism

_________________________________________

When Charlie McCarthy, Managing Director of the Historic Offshore Race Boat Association, met David Holley, CEO of Peters & May, at this year's Miami International Boat Show, the men quickly reached a hand-shake agreement to work together. Holley understood the needs of racers who are transporting not just boats, but valuable pieces of history. He also understood their concerns about shipping boats to race sites half-way around the world, but could assure McCarthy that Peters & May would ensure their safe transport--it is the company's specialty.

The conversation between McCarthy and Holley occurred as HORBA members planned to participate in a number of the international endurance race events. Prestigious events like the 'Round Britain Race and Cowes-Torquay-Cowes have produced historic moments and set records in racing and convey a sense of adventure and pride--goals worthy of the HORBA membership.

HORBA will also rely on Peters & May to bring some international racers to events in the US, including the second annual 271-mile Don Aronow Memorial Around Long Island Race, September 24. The date of the Long Island race was set to accommodate racers who compete in Cowes, providing time to ship their raceboats to the U.S. It is anticipated that a family member of renowned English racer and benefactor, Sir Max Aitken, will attend to present the Bahamas Trophy to the racer with the best showing in both the Cowes and Don Aronow race.

Another HORBA US event is planned for November 5, The First Annual Bill Wishnick Memorial Fort Lauderdale to Key West Race. This 210-mile race, in memory of one of racing's most memorable tycoons, will offer an opportunity for international racers to experience the challenging Atlantic waters of South Florida and the Keys and then stay on for the SBI World Championship races in Key West, November 6-13. HORBA will offer storage for their boats in the interim between the September and November events. The boats will then be returned by Peters & May to their home ports from Jacksonville, Florida.

"Peters & May takes great pride in supporting the sport that we all love. Our international network of shipping specialists makes it possible for us to ensure successful transport of precious boats all over the world-that is one worry that racers can eliminate as they prepare for such important feats," states Holley who grew up as a boat racing fan on international waters and is now shipping boats for the racers he idolized as a child.

"I know that [Holley] will put all of the resources of Peters & May behind the effort and do whatever it takes to get our members' boats and equipment to the race site on time," said McCarthy. "With the help of Peters & May, I feel confident that I can promote to our members a real sense of international racing, knowing their equipment will be transported safely."

Hey thanks, there has been a lot of work behind the scenes over the winter. Only the British and HORBA have real offshore racing. They are planning their Cowes to Monte Carlo race coming in a few years.

We have also had some good luck with ESPN and having one of their execs see the Around Long Island last year. This is the unusual stuff they are looking for.
