That unlimited towing package with TowBoat is great. I had a tow two years ago, was only 45-50 minutes of run time from the ramp, but that was at 65mph in the Chesapeake bay. Called Towboat, they came out within 45 minutes, were very professional, and literally said, we will tow you wherever you need to go. 7.5 hours later we pulled up to the ramp I put in at. :drink:

Cost me exactly $0 for the two and $125 for the membership, which is now paid for for the next 15 years after that tow. With no membership it would have been a bit over $1800.

Same here. It was many years ago, probably around 2000-2001 and I vapor-locked about 5 miles from home. Called up Boat-U.S., they were there in less than 30 minutes and took me home. The bill would have been about 1200 bucks. I paid nothing. 50 bucks for the Captain as gratuity and I was all set. That 140 bucks a year is still paying for itself.

:)

You'll get a thousands different opinions on this, but personally Boat-U.S. gets my money!

I tend to believe Boat-U.S. is the better, more honorable outfit based on my experiences and from my recollection of the majority opinion (at least what I perceive to be the majority) of others throughout my years of being a member here.

The additional good thing about Boat-U.S. is that they are so much more than just a for-profit tow company (cough, Sea tow). They are the boater's #1 ally and asset when it comes to government representation and lobbying, and your membership kit is chocked full of all kinds of additional discounts and benefits.

AGREED, They are like the NRA for boaters

Tow Boat US--cant beat it for a $139 unlimited membership!!! if you never use them for a tow at least the monthly magazine is worth reading. Cheap insurance is the way i look at it! My expirences w Tow-boat are nothing less than what Philm described.

I often see people broke down to stranded and usually there is a sea tow guy sitting 100 yards away waiting for the phone call...you would think they would have the decency to drive up and offer their assistance!!!! Its like a hawk waiting for its prey!

I also forgot to mention, Tow Boat US will tow you in on any boat you are on, not just your own, even if you dont have a boat, you can spend $139 on a membership, and everyone you know who has a boat will always call you to go along, or just call you when they break down :coolcowboy: I saved my dads @ss a year ago, we were on his 60 sportfish, comming home from the bahamas, put some fuel in the tanks over there, and what ever it was in there, who knows, but after running 3hrs in 8 footers, (no sweat for the 60), we got into the everglades cut, just as a huge storm was rolling in, wind was blowing current was ripping, and just as we went under the bridge we lost an engine, as I was on the way down to the engine room, we lost both, there were a couple I dont know lets just sayy $15-30 million dollar mega yachts tied at pier 66 fuel dock, that we were speed drifting right for, I got a line around the bridge just in time to hold us there, and off the boats, and called boat tow US, they got there in five mins, and used two boats to tow us back to the house, grand total, $1500, I pulled out my membership card, as my dad was reaching for his wallett, and bam, on the house!, Ive done some huge favors for my dad, I've been there ever time he called, and practically spent my entire life trying to impress the guy, and one thing I know for sure, is that $139 membership and towing him out of trouble that night, ranked right up there.:drink:
