Yeah, like our Kalfornia firefighters... Avarage wage is up to $225k/year in the Bay Area, retire at 50 with 85% of your last years earnings for their pension. And they get to do labor trades throught their carier so they never use any vacation time then take up to one years un-used vacation as pay in their last year of employment boosting the last years salary.

Top-level firefighters will see pay go from $62,000 to $71,600. Pay for captains will rise from the current $74,000 to $88,000. Source(s): http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/north… |

I think your numbers are off a little see below. Are you sure you have your facts right? If fire fighters got paid that much everybody would be at the door for them. I know a lot of people sit back and say oh GOVT employees are rich or GM workers are rich and they truely dont know the facts. Below is numbers from San Diego and LA's isnt much different. I find it hard to beleive they make that much. If they do thats crazy. Although Id rather pay a fire fighter that much money instead of a pro athlete.

Yep. I have a good friend who retired as a Captain in the LA area. He sure does not have that kind of pension. Sure he does well, but that is from other investments, not pension. Maybe the Bay area is different, I don't know.

They can make a killing in overtime, but not that much. My buddy in CT is well over 100K after overtime, but he has many cert's, and works OT every time someone takes a shift off.
