Default OT..Catmando and Supercrash...Florida elections and DOJ..

I can't recall which of you made a big deal out the DOJ getting ready to sue Florida so I will address this to both and apologize in advance to which ever one of you didn't.

Like I said, the devil is in the details and I wonder if the partisan sites you garnered the original claim from will update with the real facts?

WASHINGTON · The Justice Department said Tuesday it found no credible evidence that any Florida residents were intentionally denied their right to vote in the state that handed George W. Bush his margin of victory in the 2000 presidential election.

The Justice Department, in a letter to Congress, detailed findings so far in its investigation of possible voting irregularities in three Florida counties: Miami-Dade, Orange and Osceola. The department is considering lawsuits in those counties, saying that even though polling problems were unintentional, they may have deprived some voters of their rights.

In the letter, the department acknowledged polling problems in the three counties may have led to small numbers of voters choosing to leave the polls without casting ballots.

"While the Civil Rights Division discovered evidence of significant confusion and delay in the three counties, there were relatively few voters who actually did not vote because of these problems," wrote Assistant Attorney General Ralph Boyd.

If you would open that mind of yours, you might learn a thing or two...btw...It is on page 4a of todays paper here in Florida....

They were discussing this very topic on "Politically Incorrect" last night. I almost peed my pants at what one of the pannel members said in regards to the election. "Maybe the Republicans didn't steal the election, but it definitely fell off a truck."

I guess you had to be watching. I've been laughing about it all day!

Angry

You could line up all the people of Florida and walk them between a REPUBLICAN and a DEMOCRAT and have each person speak their vote and even then the dam DEMS wouldn't believe it- they would say that the REPs had bought out some people to their side. And then want a few more counts untill they won....

Catman just for the record it's against the law here in FL for convicted Felons to vote!!! And thousands of innocent people I sure hope that number includes all the absentee ballots from our Armed Services that were on duty somewhere else. The ones that Gore's people had disqualified because they did not have a postmark on them!! (FL law says they must be postmarked before election day) Military mail sent from overseas doesn't receive a postmark. Good loophole they found there

Wink

Here's my contribution to this thread:

"The Ballad of Al Gore" (sung to the tune of 'The Ballad of Jed Clampett)

Come and listen to my story 'bout a man named Gore
A snippy Democrat, who was really quite a bore
On election day of his Presidential bout
He thought he lost the fight but he got to recount
ballots that is... punch cards... butterflies

Well the next thing you know they're countin' 'em again
He lost a second time so he gave it all some spin
They said Palm Beach is the place you oughta be
So he hired legal experts from Tallahassee
Florida that is... sunshine state... deadlocked

Well the next thing you know they wanna change the rules
And play around with votes cause they think we're friggin fools
They riled lotsa folks and they made a lotta fuss
Till Cheney came along and started kickin' butts
Buttocks that is... liberal hineys... left-wing tuchas

Al Gore whined that the system wasn't fair
After countin' ballot holes that weren't even there
Kate Harris said that the recount was a joke
But that didn't stop the liberals from tallyin' votes
Democrat votes that is... hangin' chad... dimpled ballots

Well the State Supreme Court gave Gore another break
They let him count again cause the party was at stake
But just when he thought that his dream was born anew
The overseas votes gave it all to W
George W that is... Texas Governor... President-elect

Now it's time to say good-bye to Al and all his kin
He tried to steal some votes but it didn't help him win
You're all invited over to his house in Tennessee
To sit around and blubber at his pity-parteeee
Nashville that is... pout a while... have some sour grapes
Ya'll have fun now... Ya Hear?
