Just like the title says, when you're getting up on plane where do you have your tabs set?

I keep both in the water, one one the port side and one on the starboard side. :drink::drink:

A very wise man once asked me while i was describing prop blow out while trying to get on plane

" why do you want to put the brakes on?"

This was after describing that i was tucking the drives all the way in, and dropping tabs all the way.

After that i would only drop tabs slightly past neutral, and tuck the drives in.
Always worked after that...
Thanks to Mr.Bob Saccenti!

I like to drop them about 1/2 way on any boat; and pull them up first as soon as the boat planes. Then fine tune the drive(s).

Trim tabs waste gas when on plane; but they save drives when planing.

I'm late to the conversation but is there any time when you guys run with your tabs all the way up?

X2. And I should add that I don't need my tabs to help get on plane. I use them mosty to trim the attitude of the boat when it leaves the water on an occasional leap. (OK, maybe not so occasional.)

X3. And even then I don't bring them ALL the way up just slightly positive. That way I can drop them to neutral quickly in case there is a rogue wave or boat wake.

With my 4 blade prop I don't really use them to get on plane. With a 3 blade I drop them slightly negative.
