Wix Racing from NAPA
|
Some Napa stores have a cut away of Fram vs Wix (Napa Gold) filters. If you ever saw it, you'd never use Fram again.
Do a search here...they are garbage. I used them for about 10 years. Finally had oil pressure issues on a relatively fresh engine, switched filter same issue. Took engine to builder he put engine on dyno same issue, changed filter to a Wix, no more issue. Seems Fram had a bad run and I had 6 of them on my shelf. Could happen to anyone I guess, bu the cut away made me a believer. Your choice. But to say Wix is a lesser filter isnt true at all. |

Where To Place Your Tinkering Time!
Just to clear some misinformation here. The Fran HP series filters are a much better part than the standard series Fram filters and have been used for years by many racers and boaters for years with great results. the Wix and Ac/Delco as recommended here are also good filters as are the Amsoil and K&N units. Oil choice is probably more important here as marine HP engines never really see high usage like vehicles and never are really taxed for filtration other than their ability to stop particulates and metal debris.
All the great oils and filters in the world won't fix your engines mechanical, cooling, improper set-up and tune issues so spend a lot of time getting those things right! Almost every blown or damaged marine engine I ever saw or disassembled had good oil and filter! Best Regards, Ray @ Raylar |
