MMMMmmmm. I like this boat. It reminds me of the 50 Hustler that I saw in Miami. (only becasuse they are both about 50 ft) But if this boat runs 100 w 1800 hp thats impressive. The Hustler has trip 800 cu in motors w arnesons and ran 107 at the shootout. I think i would take the OL if i was buying

TeamSaris 06-16-2011 02:36 PM

50 foot boat is massive to my eyes. Maybe Im bucking the trend of bigger and bigger but we have a 42 OL and a 42 Fountain in our shop right now and they just seem so freakin huge on the trailer. Ill take a 28 foot boat that runs 100 over a 50 foot boat that runs 100...huge difference in the thrill factor. Very cool boat in the ocean though :D

It runs close to 100 mph. I was shocked how fast it actually is riding together over the years.

Even a 42' gets small in the ocean, especially if it's a Fountain :drink:

I know I race a 27 :D Tell you what though, its a 42 PR Edition...comes with a ballast tank, real tabs, staggards and 6s....I could have some fun in the ocean with that :evilb:

At that price it is prime candidate for an Arneson conversion boat and Whipple stage 2 or 3 on the 600's. That is a reliable, bulletproof package. Kinda curious as to what that thing would run with a couple more HP and Arnesons. They ever put trip Arnesons on a 51?

Heck, if you sell all 3 bravo's you get 1 Arneson FREE!

no way a triple engine 51 and gooseneck weighs11,500. would like to see the scales your using

I'm not seeing anything about the trailer in his post...

I trailer everywhere also. Adds for some additional versatility and less wear and fuel use of the boat using a trailer IMHO. You just have to be comfortable trailering the long load. It has some drawbacks, but I prfere it over high & dry storage or lift slip. Im Longer than most 18 wheelers hooked up. Gooseneck prob is better than off the rear, plus it allow for a tighter turn radius. I figure Im over 19,000 lbs loaded, boat, fuel gear and trailer. Then add in the truck.....

45tripps .. what rig (truck) & set-up do you use to tow that beast??

Frank,

That is a very nice boat for the, I agree with you.

kellyshooty 06-16-2011 06:05 PM

their old website says a triple engine bravo 51 weighs 14,500 lbs. that sounds about right.

Panther 06-16-2011 06:43 PM

Sold!

agreed...the number that was thrown out before sounds way to low. my 29 footer weighs 9300 wet. excuse my negligence but outerlimits doesnt have an anti-gravity hull design.

A GMC Crew Cab C5500 Full Regency Toy Hauler Custom Conversion. Full air ride suspension, cab & seats. All leather interior, wood grain, electric fold down rear seat to a bed. Tons of upgrades. Nice truck. Tows very nice. Stops even nicer due to the large 4 wheel disk brakes and engine jake brake.

Justin you are more than welcome to come to the factory and read the scales yourself. 11,500 is what the boat weighs completely dry. Add fuel and gear and your over 13,000lbs. Epoxy and Carbon Fiber boats are alot lighter than fiberglass boats.

From what I was told there were no calls resulting from this thread. :(

A local guy bought it so it looks like all 3 of the owners OL's are staying in NJ.

We still have the 42X unsold so if anyone is interested please contact me.

Great news. I was talking to Brett today about the proper lift.

kellyshooty 06-16-2011 08:30 PM

can you show a scale weight for a full carbon 51 with trips, just cant believe 11,500 as a weight, plus you need to change your website weight, why would you advertise 14,500 if it reallty weighs 11,500, makes no sense

There's no 51 on our website and no info on the 52SL yet?? I guess you dont have to believe it. And the boat in question is not a full carbon boat.

jmoore1225 06-16-2011 08:59 PM

I'm sure whoever is buying these boats could give 2 sh!t's less if the boat weighs 11k or 13k.... Especially w/ the performance #'s these OL's are putting on the board!!!!

google 51 outerlimits and you will get to the old website info on the 51, tells beam, length, weight and says triple bravo 51 specs

funny but good point. Your going to 50ft the weight isnt a thought beyond what it is so you can ensure you can tow it. If your thinking is that is weighs 11 so your F250 can pull it your nuts. Something like this you better have a 350 or better

Depends but I know what you mean!

The owners old 51' had a different step design (last boats steps were more shallow) and was a few thousand pounds heavier (this one was epoxy) than the one that just sold and it was roughly 15 mph faster. The old boat had 575sci's and his last 51' had the 600sci's.:drink:

1MOSES1 06-17-2011 03:05 PM

Thats information straight from the website.

LOA 50’6”
Beam 9’3”
Weight (Triple Bravo) 14,500 lbs
Headroom 5’11”
Forward Cabin 5’1”
Cockpit Freeboard 52”

1MOSES1 06-17-2011 03:12 PM

doing quick number crunching...if the boat has a dry weight of 11,500 (dans weight number) that would mean it carries 3,000 lbs of wet weight using the aforementioned 14,500 from the website. ehhh these numbers look sketchy to me. that means 20% of the weight is fuel. doubtful.

Fountain4402 06-17-2011 03:17 PM

something like that has to have huge tank and at 8lbs a gallon. I could see it being feasible.

Panther 06-17-2011 03:37 PM

Are the numbers you guys are quoting the pre-Epoxy models? The Epoxy 51's were roughly 3K lbs less than the older ones and I remember a number of 15K for Billy's OLD 51' so Dan's numbers sound correct.

jmoore1225 06-17-2011 03:53 PM

8lbs a gallon is water, fuel is 6lbs... How big are the tank, tanks?

Panther 06-17-2011 04:54 PM

Guys, the pre-epoxy 51's were 15k so not sure what to tell ya about weight othe than 12k is correct for the epoxy 51' IMHO. I seem to remember 500 gal tank but don't quote me.

drpete3 06-18-2011 06:25 AM

Whats also amazing to me is that the old 37 stilettos have a reported dry wieght of is 10200pds. That boat is 13 ft longer and just over 1000 pds more

I have never seen a boat website that quotes "Wet weight". Wouldn't be very good marketin when the comparison to all other boats are advertized DRY weight. But, I have not taken the time to look at the website, nor do I care to take that time so if I am wrong please disregard.

Fuel is 6 lbs a gallon - you're killing us with mis-information on this thread:grinser010::grinser010:

Panther 12-13-2011 04:21 PM

Boat is still available and priced to sell @ $225K. If anyone is interested contact Brett.

Catmando 12-13-2011 04:54 PM

Gasoline weighs 6.15lbs/gal. Diesel weighs 7.1lbs/gal.

45Tripps 12-13-2011 04:56 PM

That boat carrys fresh water too @ 8.4lbs per gallon.

My 45 is 12,500 dry weight.

WildThing47 12-13-2011 05:14 PM
