Anyone know what top speed I can expect from a 2000Sunsation with stock 454 MPI's, 28P props? The owner claims 75MPH.

Thanks. The reason I asked was because I was on a friend's 1999 32 with 454 mags but the speedo only bounced on 70 a few times at 5000 rpms. Could it be because he has his speedo hooked up to one of the plastic pick up tubes instead of through the outdrive? We did not have GPS and it seemed like his boat should have done better.
Will all the 454 mag Dominators do 75-78?

Only check speed's with a GPS. Even a handheld unit works good.

There is a droid GPS speedometer app.
I have it on my droid now, seems to work ok.

Are you looking at the one for sale near Windsor? If so, that is my brother in laws boat, 75 is about right, I had a '96 with 502mpi's & the best I ever seen was 78

I had a buddy with a 2000 Dominator with twin 454 MAG's turning 28" labbed props at LOTO. Boat was a 75 - 76 MPH GPS boat every day. I believe one morning he had the perfect combo of chop, air temp, humidity, fuel load, etc. and just tickled 80 MPH.

He is not talking about mags... read his posts closer, his buddy has mags and he wants to know how similar the 454 mpi's are. The boat should run about 70 with 454 mpi's.
