Default 1996 Scarab vs 1990 Baja 250

Just an opinion thread. Which boat will perform/ride better at higher speeds 70+? Both boats are around 27ft (Baja 27ft Scarab 26ft) but the Baja weighs over 1K lbs more. What do you say?

I have some thoughts that I'll post later about the Scarab. I owned a 96 26' for almost four years.

Wife and kids are waiting on me now to walk out the door and I don't have enough time to reply right now.

I also owned a 96 26ft Scarab. I was very happy with the boat and it held up extremly well for me. When I sold it a few months ago the entire boat still looked like it was only a few years old. I would definetly buy another scarab.
What power do both boats have? I know that the Scarab takes 500 plus hp to get you into the 70s.

The Scarab was a good boat to us. Did what I asked of it and never let us down. I consider it more of a performance cuddy than anything else. The cabin was so so as far as use of space goes. I didn't understand why they couldn't have two opposing benches like most cabins in that size range.

I didn't take a beating when I sold the Scarab. Sold it for 2k less than what I gave for it three years earlier.

I've never been on or owned the Baja you mentioned. A couple of things come to mind when comparing the two. If they both have original Merc power there's a good chance the Baja is carb engine and the Scarab is fuel injected. This would probably mean the Scarab also has a serpentine belt set up on it whereas the Baja would likely not have that. May not be a huge deal, but it makes a difference to some.

I'm guessing the added weight of the Baja would probably payoff in a smoother rough water ride.
