OSO member Paradox has a 41 Avanti, I believe. From what I understand the hulls were pretty good, but the guy who built\rigged them out of NJ had some problems related to the rigging on many of these boats. Owners who have sorted out these issues have ended with some pretty nice boats. Maybe PM Paradox for the real lo-down.

Mine is a 33'.. Some times she thinks she's a 43' lol.
The boats are great, and yes there were some rigging issues when it was done by the original owner. Kinda like hit and miss, depends on who and when it was rigged. I had my rigged in Tampa/locally and have no problems. Hulls are solid.

PS. pretty good $ for that 41.. jump on it.

I definitely like it but got a cautionary PM right off from one of the OSO guys I trust a lot. Does anyone know if the hull is a pop? Original? Any info on it?

Do a search on Avanti, Banana Boat, Coyote, Sonic.
Original hull design was by Charlie Macharty of Banana Boat fame. Some Coyotes were made from the same hull, then mold sold to Sonic, then to Avanti. Now pretty much the same hulls are used by Egg Harbor to make CC's, in Miami. Great hulls, strong and takes the pounding like you wouldn't believe.
The boat/hull is not the issue with the Avanti name. It's the a$$ h0le Dennis Friedmen rigging and louzy customer service while he was building them.

I am not worried necessarily about the boat, other than it may have drive/motor issues according to local rumor. Just gotta use a fine tooth comb as always, tough to trust people these days. Paradox what should I be looking for? Add changed to 18K for the boat 5K for the trailer. twin supposedly fresh 540's. Compare to a sonic 41?

I don't think a comparison to a 42 sonic is fair. Sonic is a stand up cabin with cruiser ammentities.

I don't the boat, nor do I know the guy selling it, however I know of him and he lives close to a friend of mine. He seems to be moving a lot of toys lately. I think he has had 5 boats listed just this year alone, and his yard is full of people, toys and cars any given day of the week.

If you are serious about the boat call Jim Raymond at Sterndrive Specialist in Constantia and pay him a few books to look it over. You could also call Jay Baker in B-vill to do the same. I don't think you are going to find another 41 speed boat with 540s for less.

Agree with 4bus. get a surveyor to check it out. I was refering to the hull designs not the deck, cockpit or cabin of a Sonic.
Check for stress cracks at all joints, angles etc. My Avanti went through some pretty nasty chit and ZERO stress cracks anywhere. Cosmetic repairs are cheap, it's your drive and motors that will get you in trouble on an older boat. 18K is a good price. 5K for the trailer is a bit high. You got dibs on it, but if you walk away, let me know. I might just jump on it myself. Motors/drives are an issue, you couldn't get a "refreshed" set for 18K. If I do it? I would swap my 525's and bravos XR's into the 41 and put the old set in my 33 and sell.

4bus, thanks for the words. I'll check in with Jim @ sterndrive. and paradox, I'm a couple of months from moving on it, but I'll gladly be your contact and get ya a full spread of pics if your interested in moving on it now. I can arrange for things if thats helpful. I know with business and the end of the season, I won't get a chance to really get serious on it for a bit. Its sleek looking and a lot of boat for the coin for sure, thats why it caught my eye
