ill have to admit the first time i started my lavey i was a little disappointed with the not so ominous sounds i heard. Shes way to quit at idle and in the water i have looked for restrictors in the exhaust system but i have not found any. When i look through the thru hull exhuast at the back of the boat i see metal flappers inside the tip so i assume there is no restrictor? How do i make my big block v8 sound like v8? I appreciate all the help i get hope my question isnt to stupid

It has been my observation from pictures of Lavey's that the exhaust exits just at or below the water line. This would make it quiet until it gets up on plane and the exhaust gets out of the water........

The 496mag uses the same camshaft as the truck engine 8.1L camshaft. Its very anemic and does not rumble.
Get a new Raylar 496Ho camshaft a reprogram on your ECM and remove the turbulators and it will have a nice idle and about 65 more HP you may looking for.
Best Regards,
