Anybody think this was awesome

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igNP_...ature=youtu.be

I am sure he knows the guy but dang this could have only been 10ft away.

Dave M 08-09-2011 10:01 AM

He looks a little over-trimmed.

A.O. Razor 08-09-2011 10:35 AM

I would not do it with a boat full of people.

I like this comment. "Ok this guy is a power boater I think he knows what he is doing people who own boats like this know how to drive them!!"

And everybody who owns a sportscar or motorcycle knows how to drive that right?

ckin62 08-09-2011 12:08 PM

YES, dumb idea! A little different but easily could have the same result.

drpete3 08-09-2011 12:08 PM

All I have to say is that i wouldnt do it and wouldnt be happy if someone came up behind me and jumped my wake like that

soldier4402 08-09-2011 12:11 PM

I mean 50yds out or something plus and you know the guy, maybe OK. But you see the water splash and just stop which is stopped because it hit the other side of a boat. So pretty stupid

waterboy222 08-09-2011 12:21 PM

Driver knows what he's doin.. He's a mulit-boat owner and has spent more time on the water than most people could ever dream of. And they did know each other. Good friends..

Fast Shafts 08-09-2011 12:34 PM

As one person posted on You Tube's comments; "Dale Sr. knew what he was doing also.."

So Jeff Gordon should drive down the expressway going 150mph. Like I said it seems they knew eachother and even if the other guy knew what he was going, no telling if that boat would have hooked into the other one.

Yup if that went the other way they would have gotten hit

BBADWS6 08-09-2011 01:58 PM

It doesnt matter how long you have been boating, or how much experience you have. That is not a smart move.

pantara514 08-09-2011 02:21 PM

its people like that that give power boats a bad rep...dumb asses..

JD Dearden 08-09-2011 02:27 PM

I wouldn't do it...

thisistank 08-09-2011 02:37 PM

This video's been around for a while. I don't really see the big deal. Looks like they were having a good time. Doesn't look any different than when jay shot Blee and all the guys on LOTO jumping the wake off of the yacht. Obviously the owner of the Cafe knew the owner of the other boat, the camera was waiting for him to approach.

+100

MacGyver 08-09-2011 05:24 PM

Too close in my opinion. In WI that would have been illegal. All boats must be a minimum 100' away at speed.

soldier4402 08-09-2011 05:27 PM

think thats about any state

bobonthis 08-09-2011 05:30 PM

I guess everybody drives the speed limit on this board as well. Anything could go wrong any given day. Are you pushing your luck with this..probably. Lets not bad mouth stuff that does not need bad mouthed. If something bad happen you are more then welcome to call somebody an idiot and say I told you. Everybody here really acts like they have never done anything wrong or sketchy. Live life..have fun!

Expensive Date 08-09-2011 05:30 PM

I'm kinda mister safety.....but keep in mind cameras have zoom lenses.I don't think it was as close as it looks

That's kinda what I was thinking too and upon further inspection you can actually see the camera zoon in around the 8 second mark.

Who cares. Sweet looking cafe. Probably felt like a speed bump. :drink:

buck183 08-09-2011 05:58 PM

Isn't that a GLOC boat?

Buck

Quinlan 08-09-2011 06:08 PM

Yes it is. AND its fun doing it. cept for the little drive issue.
We all NEVER speed either.
Well not since they put a govner on my truck at one HUndie!
And every now and then I forget to put on my seatbelt

I dont think so that first wake coming off the boat is no more than 20ft and watch the spray come up and hit under the camera. That boat was 20ft away MAX folks

f_inscreenname 08-09-2011 09:26 PM

I love jumping wakes but would never come up that close to another boat just because of the chance of hooking it the wrong way. Lot of water out there to have to explain how I hit another boat.

This board is strange sometimes...there's plenty of threads on how a boater does something stupid to cause an accident or injuries and everybody here is ready to lynch the captain after lighting him on fire.

But if something questionable is done and nothing comes of it then the 'ol "what's the matter with you all, you've never done something stupid?" excuse comes out in force.

soldier4402 08-10-2011 07:05 AM

Lets say you you hit and nobody got hurt because of this idiocy. It probably wouldn't be fun to try and explain to insurance.

But I agree with Indy. Somebody got killed people would be all over it. Here you still have 90% saying this guy was a dumb ace but THAT 10% thats like what, what, who cares. morons if you ask me

Yep, all fun and games until someone gets an eye put out, or killed.....way too close.

You make very valid claim here BUT. Does everybody drive 5mph over the speed limit, I would say a lot of people do and is it unsafe probably not in all conditions but some. Now is driving 10-15mph over the speed limit not safe probably, do a lot of people do it not really and not for extended amounts of time. Jumping a boat over the wake within 20ft of a boat VERY UNSAFE, now if it was 100ft away then yeah I would equate that to driving 5mph over the limit in car.

The differnce is everybody makes mistakes and does dumb stuff but a lot of it, is spur of the moment bad decision. But this incident was deliberatly set up and filmed so some guy could post on youtube and think he was a bad ace in his CIG. Doing dumb things is bad dont matter what, but its really moronic to sit there and think about and set up a dumb ace thing to do. But I guess people dont get their fill by watching jackass and have to do it themselves.

Also there is a difference between accidents and doing dumb chit. If this boat would have crashed it wouldnt be an accident it would have been very poor judgement of idiotic driver and chances he would have been put in jail or sued for property damage and wrongful death.

bobonthis 08-10-2011 08:51 AM

5mph over is still not legal. What if you were doing 40 in a 35 and a kid crossed on his bike and you hit him and killed him. If you were doing 35 like posted you would of had enough time to stop. Everybody would of said you were speeding and didnt give the kid a chance. Anyways my whole point is..NOTHING HAPPENED! I said it was risky..but I dont care who you are, we have all done some risky stuff from time to time. I am sure he is not out there doing this everyday. Remember everytime you point a finger you got 3 pointing back at you.

Just because something didn't happen doesnt make it ok or somewhat ok. And I understand your analogies but it doesnt sway this from being stupid. Have a lot of us doen risky stuff maybe. But like I said anything Ive done risky was maybe spur of the moment vs me sitting back thinking about, telling a buddy my plan and having him turn on a video camera. It really takes a special person to plan to do something dumb.

And right now there is about 2 guys including your self saying this was not that bad.

I once sent a text message while driving. Truly lucky everyone survived. Thank You, baby Jesus..

To credit the driver for those that don't know him; I know him well, & would absolutely let him drive anything of mine without worry. We grew up together on the lake & he has been skillfully driving high performance boats for a long time.

I'm not trying to argue that there aren't plenty of things that COULD have happened there, but that argument can be carried into almost any situation involving a boat doing something other than sitting at the dock.

Nothing happened most importantly, & they got a great shot of a nice boat hitting a decent wave.

offshoredrillin 08-10-2011 09:39 AM

seems awful suspicious that soldier4402 acts alot like that douche fountain4402 that got banned... guess its tough being everyone's personal savior and knowing everything isn't it?...you were banned once, gonna try for a second time?

he sounds like some other perfect person that used to hang around here...tell me do you have military i beams crossed in your yard too and own lots of boats? do you know mikeyfin too? :D
