If you overheated the oil it would take out the mains/rods. Is there an oil temp gage? I hate to see you do it all again.

L' R I feel your pain but I think your like me even if you did not have issues from the start you would not feel it was really your boat untill you went through every inch of it first. Good luck, keep posting. Jo

That's a good point blue, but there is no sign of anything getting hot in there, no discoloration except for the bearing that spun. I will check cooler flow before it goes back. Prob will get some oil temp gauges

if you spun a bearing replace the cooler. Coolers will hide all kinds of crap and generally are replaced after anything catastrophic. Good luck with the project and sorry about all your troubles. At least when your done you'll know what ya got.

I blew a head gasket in April, total engine rebuild.

Blew an upper first week in Aug, replaced upper with Bravo 1x. Will see how it runs this week end. I know where I'm at now, only good side to this, and now I have Lemonade!!!!

That SUCKS!! The water had to come from some place and escape to another.... Are you sure there is no other soft spots? Thats the thing that made me abandon my 84 Formula 3.

You won't see any signs of heat from oil getting too hot. If you by chance saw any creamed cheese looking film under the valve covers you might be able to conclude it was NOT getting too hot. Definately go back together with oil temp sender/gage, new cooler (w/tstat) like Glassdave said and I do oil lines too. You cannot get the bearing material out of lines 100%. It sounds like overkill but it is not.

No such thing as overkill when cleaning any part of an oiling system, there were signs of condensation in the valve covers

also means the foam around the fuel tanks is saturated, and the stringers surrounding the tanks need to be checked as well as the bulkhead in front of the tanks. You may have bought a pandora's box. sorry to say, hope it is not that bad!
