St. Armands Circle is cool for a few hours or try Main St. and the downtown area of Sarasota. Some cool local spots (sidewalk dining) to hang out at. If you want stone crabs in season go to Moores Restaurant which is just north of LBK.

Anna Maria Island is just up the road from Long boat key and is one of my favorite places in Florida and they do rent all kinds of boats there. If you can't swing a boat then at least go to the tip of Anna Maria and have dinner at the Rod & Reel Peer. Very low key but super cool place over the water.

Threads like this that get such a good response, and people Like YOU GUYS are why I LOVE OSO! and the entire powerboating community! What other lifestyle/ hobby has this kind of comradery and friendship towards almost complete strangers.
I grew up going to LOTO almost every weekend as my grandparents lived in Chimeny Cove. But my parents never really got into boating; and my grandparents moved when I was 13. Then about a year and a half ago, on a whim I traded my 89 Mustang drag car for a 16ft sport jet, then in May I sold that and picked up my Velocity. Now its a full on ITIS. Thats right I've caught "boating-itis". Next up in the next few years; more power, trim tabs, repaint, and evetualy a 260 or 280.
