New Ilmor V8 - 522 Hp - Catalyst
#11
Even more: Since this engine turns 5800 rpm vs a 525EFI's 5200 rpm, you can gear it 11% shorter. That means it will act like it has 581 ft-lbs. Even with the catalysts, it's pretty impressive for a 454-sized engine.

What's retail on one of these Ilmor's? What's stopping them from being used in a performance boat, say a 28 foot single. Sure would be nice to drop some weight and give up no power.
I still think about just dropping in an LSA if I had some cash laying around. I believe they're about $10k, and torque all day. Not positive on what is necessary to marinize it though....

I'd like to drop a couple of those in my 292!
Let's see... currently running 640hp (twin 320hp)... 1044hp would sure bring her to life, and still run on 87 octane. That is an impressive package. Let's hope they come out with a stern drive offering.
