I'd be buying the silver 38 Donzi zrc that was just redone by nortech. $123k, almost 100mph with a bullet proof engine package. Seems to hit everything your looking for with extra money in hand for engine upgrades if you feel the need.

Option 2 sounds ideal.
The cruiser is for snotty days and taking big groups. Get a fast V for smaller groups and just having fun.
I'd get a minimum of a 37/38 to handle LOTO, my preference is a Top Gun mostly for looks and name recognition, not an expert in the bigger boats.
You could of course get a 150K cat that is as big as you can afford. This would get you the cat experience now for the insurance when you want to go all out on huge power 40 Skater. Something like http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o37630-en.html
(I didn't search much, just grabbed the first nice cat in that price range as an idea)
Either way, nice "problem" to have making this decision.

This is a really nice boat. Priced right all ready.
You wont loose much on it in a few years.
I have been in it at 86 on gps. Fresh water. It is faster in salt.
Run 80 all day long any day.

Almost as reliable as you can get unless you put #6's on.

Brett, I personally would go option 2, especially with the family. You even stated in original post you like the Sea Ray. You are @ LOTO, call up Brett w/PBB at LOTO. He can lead you in a positive direction & has some inventory to help you out. I'd purchase a nice V, a TS Cig Top Gun or 42 Fountain, both with 525 EFI, run in middle/upper 80's. PBB has both. Good luck.

Two words: JIM DARR, that's what's wrong!!! Nobody in their right mind wants that "44" Skater...
