Sebastian to Fort Pierce next weekend??
Here's what I'm thinking... (October 15th)
Since we brought gas home in the Sonic (against my religion) we may top off and burn it all next weekend, especially if the Ziemers make it over w/their new museum piece. Thinking a fun trip my be out the Sebastian Inlet (depending on conditions), south to the Fort Pierce Inlet (beach time on way), in to the cove where they attract as many revelers as the sand bar at the Sebastian Inlet, hang there a couple hrs, then north up the I.C. , stop at Riverside cafe for lunch then the rest of the way back north through millionaires row on the I.C. to Sebastian. The 9 miles from Riverside up the I.C. is past some of the nicest houses on the water that you will see in all of Fla. Would be a 45ish mile trip?? Could also end the trip back at the Sebastian Inlet Sand bar. Maybe even do the bon fire in our back yard that Saturday night. |
Would love to Gary, but we are running the west coast next weekend.
|
We may be able to do that trip Gary... can I launch in fresh water nearby? Sebastion river or? Sounds like a blast:) shoot me an email underdogracing at yahoo
|
We will be over there for sure! Brought the new ride home today. Not sure if I want to make a long trip just yet, simply cuz this will be the shake down run. I may be able to dump it in East Lake prior to Saturday, but it's not looking promising. I am busier than hell at work...plus, I wanna do all the basics prior to the weekend, water pumps, drive oil, engine oil, etc...
Either way, we will definitely be at the sandbar if nothing else. Can't wait for you to see it. Steve and Kenny were impressed by it this morning... :drink:

Great news from Jeff and Mark.
Mark, closest we have to "fresh" water is the ramp at the Sebastian Yacht Club on the river right in the middle of town. Brackish water, think salt light ;) Don't worry, my trailer is steel and has only been in that water or salt since I re-did it and it's fine. Trick is to take a hose and muffs w/you everywhere you go. Flush the motors and the trailer. Jeff, congrats! I'm excited for you and can't wait to see the new boat. Heck, I don't think you've seen mine either? Totally understand the shake down issues. If the weather is decent we are going to do it since it ran so good in the Keys. Plus it's a bit easier navigating this route than where we just were ;) Plans are to head out Sebastian Inlet Saturday morning/noon and head south. Once a few miles south, there is uninhabited beach area that you can back in/anchor off of. Have a couple of pops, enjoy the view then back on the road. All goes well, cruise between 40 - 50 (where everyone is happy) to Fort Pierce Inlet and head in there. The cove where everyone hangs out is just inside the inlet and attracts a couple hundred boats on nice weekends. From there, about a mile (no wake) west to the I.C. and then head north. If we/everyone is into it we can stop at Riverside Cafe at Vero Beach for lunch. Nice place on the water w/decent docks but may require rafting depending on if/who goes. From there north through all the millionaires back yards. I'm told some of these folks spend thousands $$ per mnth just in landscaping. Some on corner lots w/statues, pools, etc, etc. Would hazard to guess w/the several acre lots (w/o the house) are worth on the water front :o Definitely a fun area to slow for pix's. From there probably end up back at the Sebastian Inlet sand bar. May have to stop at Suzy's Tiki Bar (Sebastian) on the way past though. They just got their liquor license and will have a band. Killer pizza right across the street as well too. Depending on weather, we are going for sure and looking forward to it. Boat only needs fuel/$$$. Dean........???? Mark, pm w/contact info on it's way. Any one else interested let me know if you need more info. |

If I can get everything ready in time, we may come Friday since it's 2 hrs driving and looking into the State Park Marina.
I was also recomended a County Park Boat Launch. Dale Wimbrow County Park on the Seb River. Do you know it? I'm doing some homework today... Be good to see you again! Mark ,Becky and Abby the dog:) |
Dean, I understand. I'm lucky that my boss is off this weekend annnndd, thinks it's a good idea.
Bobby, will do. Almost always a spur of the moment thing and know w/you having a family it's probably tuff to get away. Mark, no I haven't heard of that one. They did just build a very nice, new one just north of town that may be it. You'll love the state park. Only draw back is your 10 mls from anything. There are RV parks all over town too but I don't know anything about them. There's one a 1 mile from my house (Wabasso) but don't know about ramp/water acces. The owners of the tiki bar are friends of ours and I'm sure would let you keep the boat at their docks while you're here if you wanted then you could put the RV in the back yard. Mile and a half as a crow flies ;) |
Not bringing the rv. Sleeping on the boat but thanks. is the tiki bar dog friendly?
|
Staying on the boat????????

And yes, the bar is dog friendly. If you want to do that, (I'll verify before you come but they have offered to us many times) you could dunk the boat then drag the trailer to our place to drop it and park your car/truck back at the bar so you'd you'd have wheels while there. Heck, you do that, we may do the same thing. We've been wanting to break it in there anyhow and this would give us a reason. New bar owners are boaters and trying to attract more boats to their place as well. Killer Italian/pizza restaurant 50' away. Breakfast places 2 blocks. We have a harbor at the end of our street but is very skinny water. These guys will be at Suzi's Sat night. We've seen them before and they burned the place down! http://www.gatorblues.com/ If you stay through Sunday, this place is a 5 min walk from Suzy's and also on the river. Best live blues (free) you'll ever see. http://www.earlshideaway.com/ Another 5 mins (on foot) and also on the water w/docks. http://www.hirams.com/ Ditto on all including distance. http://www.squidlipsgrill.com/restaurant/Locations.aspx 2 mins opposite direction. On water w/docks. http://www.mulligansrestaurant.net/index.php/seb You can hit all these places by boat w/o ever getting on plane. Theres half a dozen barren islands within 500 yds of all these places w/sand beaches and deep enough water to anchor off and wade to shore. |
Drives adjusted yesterday, pulled fuel filters and ordered water pumps today along with cleaing up the leading edges and polishing the props, gear lube tomorrow, and maybe an oil change by the weekend. (Oil looked clean today though) Maybe even enough time to wash her down...
We'll be over there first thing on Saturday, and will be putting in at the public ramp down the street from Hirams... We will be "kidless" (well unless you count Big D) and we'll have a total of 5 on the boat. ;) See y'all soon! |
From this mornings paper:
Friday - H=85 L=64 10% chance of rain. Saturday - H=85 L=67 20% chance of rain. Sunday H=83 L=71 25% chance of rain. Cool evenings and w/our cool on shore breezes will be perfect sleeping on the boat weather. |
Perfect:)
>You must be from Ohio! My friends down here all think I'm nuts when we do it. We hardly go out unless it's a 2dayer >And yes, the bar is dog friendly. Big Plus! >dunk the boat then drag the trailer... Don't need no stinking wheels. Planned to just leave them at the ramp. Bad idea? >We have a harbor at the end of our street but is very skinny water. Buckeye Lake skinny or worse? One of my hold ups is flushing the Peace River bottom out to get my water flowing again. Low tide docking last Friday night... The ramp I'm looking at is just above the airport. 3 miles down the lower fork of the seb river. We can sleep anywhere. The spoil island #48 supposed to have docks and primitave camping too. Were you talking sleeping at the bar docks? That'd be awsome and just like home! Call or email when you get a chance. We will be over Friday thru Saturday evening. Supposed to open the park here Sunday am but will look into a trade for that if we need to stay Sat night. (Called local NAPA w/impeller part numbers... "5-7 days from Ilinoise prepaid" ?? WTF I get them next day in Ohio from Columbus. This is Florida...) |
Yep.

High tide maybe. Low, no way. The ramp I'm looking at is just above the airport. 3 miles down the lower fork of the seb river. That's the new one. Go to the Sebastian Yacht Club ramp right in the middle of town. Basically intersection of Rt. 512 and US 1, but keep going one more block west until you hit water (the river) turn north/left 1 block and you're there. We can sleep anywhere. The spoil island #48 supposed to have docks and primitave camping too. Were you talking sleeping at the bar docks? That'd be awsome and just like home! Bar docks. was going to be good but guess I'll have to drag the Mrs out for beers tonight to verify plans. That gives you restrooms and a place to walk the dog. spoil islands are a hoot and could happen just as easy. Call or email when you get a chance. We will be over Friday thru Saturday evening. Supposed to open the park here Sunday am but will look into a trade for that if we need to stay Sat night. I see you guys staying through first of week. Just sayin... (Called local NAPA w/impeller part numbers... "5-7 days from Ilinoise prepaid" ?? WTF I get them next day in Ohio from Columbus. This is Florida...) I have air and a full shop here too if you want to use it. Come early and do your maintenance here if you want. |

Gear lube changed tonight, and fuel filters on. Tomorrow night will be impellers... Mark, if you need impellers, go to Offshore Performance in Ft. Myers. They should have them in stock and they've got great prices. |

Ziem: looking forward to seeing our evil twin. I don't really need impellers, I just wanted them. The ones I have look pretty good as with my spares. Not worth the drive to FMyers. werking on the boat all day today:) |

Impellers done... :drink:
Tomorrow, will be a little cleaning, some paint on the drives, and some slight adjustments on the indicators. May even run it on the hose, just to be sure I don't have any leaks. Other than that, it's a trip to the gas station away from boat riding... :evilb: |

Saw one of the owners there and he may do tomorrows run w/us. Said he is leaving the restrooms unlocked for us and not charging us for dockage ;) Bands there all weekend. One of the neighbors has a group of boats camping on the island 100 yds away Saturday and is going to try and get to Suzi's w/the boat tonight. Last night we ha d a full moon right over the end of the pier. |
Great talking again Gary. Were gonna slow down our roll to get on the water late afternoon. Give me a call after work so we can find each other.
Will be great to run strange water w/a local unlike our bumbling run thru Peace river/Charlot Harbor last week. Looking forward to meeting your friends as well! Sounds like an awsome weekend in the making! Thanks for putting this all together. Mark |

Cheryl is going to drive her Blazer to Suzi's as we're leaving dogs home so we need wheels. We'll probably just show up w/beer tonight and stock the coolers for real tomorrow.Pretty slick docks too. At the far end where we'll be is a large deck area, maybe 20' square. Perfect for lawn chairs and coolers. We'll have to be good to the bar owners though and support his establishment in exchange for him being so nice to us. They said they're having a new band there tonight that's supposed to be a killer country band. The owners are way cool. |

Night #1 could not have been better. Perfect weather, awesome band, the place was packed and we were the only 2 boats at the dock. Gorgeous sun set and even better sun rise! My freagin 12 volt coffee pot has got to go though. An hour for the first pot! Used to have one that worked great and let it go w/the old boat. Mark being a true Buckeye red neck/hill billy didn't even bring shoes :) Says he figures if his dog can get in (where ever) then he should be ale to also. Wind is blowing this morning and lost one chair off the dock. Going down for it when we get back. BTW, reports from last Sundays storm: after 12" of rain and 40 mph winds for 72 hrs straight, we got 70 mph winds (can you say hurricane?) and 3 boats sunk at dock. Our wonderful weather forecasters kinda missed that one. |

[QUOTE=ziemer;3528643]Here's a pic at Mulligans.
We saw you pull out of there when we were tied up at Suzys Tiki docks. Ran to and out the inlet but couldn't find you. Went to Ft Pierce, hung out and back. Good times. We'll find you next time:) Good time and I know we'll be back again soon. Thanks for everything Gary. |
Maybe a bit more planning next time.
Jeff, my phone sucks. I got a text from you last night sayuing you were at the rt 60 bridge in Vero. We were within 10 mls or less from you and most likely headed your way. How bad is that? |
Mark, check in here.

I am boatless now but also reside in Sebastian.
I have done the run from Sebastian inlet to Fort Pierce a few times and came up the IC through Millioniars row!!! Fantastic houses. I am surprised I did not read about a visit to captian Hirams. Dennis |
So many bars... so little liver...
