I'm spending wayyy too much time on youtube...

I can't believe that the spectators look to be on the course...I guess that is one thing that has changed over the years...

It was great to have a look back in time and see some of the greats of the sport. Thanks for posting the video.

One of the 'close boats' was mine. The spectator boats are not as close as they look in the video. There were exceptions though, this was the first race of the Pro Tour so the security was quite a bit more lax than most races; even in the pits, you could go wherever you wanted and tie up most anywhere also. It was a fun race.

Around the 2.5 minute mark showing the Popeye boat overtaking the competition, there is a yacht driving right through the course
