Whats wrong with OSO, or is it Internet Explorer?

I have 3 computers I use, none on the same network and I have problems getting the page up on all of them. Its on any part of OSO and I need to refresh the page 3,4,5, times before it will load. I have downloaded all updates on them but didn't help, everything else I go to all the time is fine. Its got so bad I dont come on here much anymore but winter is here and my work is slowing and I don't want to miss all the good fighting on here:party-smiley-004:.

I have the same issue. Never has been as good, since the corp. bought it. It was great when Steve owned it. They need to spend the money to update their technology, but they probabley won't, just keep sucking it dry. That's the reason I have not renewed my membership, after it was bought. I don't spend near the time on here I used to. Then they wonder why it doesn't make the money they think it should.

I used to have problems when using IE but have since switched to a Mac and have no issues using Safari. You might try another browser. Safari, Firefox, Chrome, etc..

timmoore 11-08-2011 08:04 AM

I have problems with IE too...
Firefox and Chrome work fine.

STRAIGHTPRIORITY 11-08-2011 08:07 AM

it is slow.... i think they dont have enough band for there amount of users/traffic.

Griswald 11-08-2011 08:20 AM

the problem is IE. As mentioned, switch to Mozilla or go Mac w/ Safari.

CigDaze 11-08-2011 08:30 AM

Running Firefox with Adblocker Plus. No lag, no issues.

And check to make sure you're not running through any redirect proxies. A lot of times latency in loading pages can be due to hijackers routing all your traffic through their malicious proxies trying to track your usage and/or blast you with their adservers.

LapseofReason 11-08-2011 08:30 AM

The header will load and all the ads but not the fourms or the classifieds. I will try to load another browser at home but cant change the stuff at work. I also dont come here as much, when I joined back in 03 it was going strong now it's like having a 15 year old dog, you still love it and like it around just cant have as much fun with it. Plus I am boatless (big boat) anyway so just mainly here to shop and see whats going on.

Pismo10 11-08-2011 08:42 AM

Firefox

Pismo10 11-08-2011 08:42 AM

Nobody should be using IE for any reason unless they like viruses.

SpeedGirl 11-08-2011 09:28 AM

I use Firefox and haven't had any issues... BUT, I sent an email to IB asking if they are experiencing any server probelms....

fantastixvoyage 11-08-2011 09:32 AM

No problems here using IE on my laptop. However I do have very similar issues (header only, multiple refreshes, etc) when using my crackberry to browse which suggest it is more on the user side than IB/OSO.

rainmn 11-08-2011 09:54 AM

Zero issues for me on a Mac w/ Safari.

A.O. Razor 11-08-2011 11:04 AM

Haven't had IE issues on OSO, but plenty at other sites. Go Opera or Firefox. IE sucks, espcielly the IE9. What a piece of sh!t

IBobi 11-08-2011 12:29 PM

I unofficially always recommend the "anything but IE" approach. Especially recent releases of IE have been problematic.

This does look to be IE isolated but I'll pass it on to tech, thanks folks.

mine is the same with IE...other sites besides this one does it to me, looks like IE across the board?

97FASTech 11-08-2011 01:00 PM

Just downloaded Firefox, fixed the delay and all the refreshing problems.

A.O. Razor 11-08-2011 01:35 PM

I think the mods needs to change the title of this thread to "What's wrong with IE? No need to have it look like a OSO issue.

Just sayin'

LapseofReason 11-08-2011 02:06 PM

Only reason I said OSO is that I only go to about 5 sites all the time for my info and news and OSO is the only one I have a problem with. I have IE9 on one computer and 8 on the others. My main computer is and old lap top with windows xp so I'll have to see what I can get to run on it. I need to get a tablet of some form cuz all I do is read on the net anyway.

Prater 11-08-2011 02:15 PM

I renewed again, but tired of getting the same shirt every time. What happened to the nice t-shirt graphics we used to get??? I think I even got a few Freeze Frame CDs when I first came to the forums.

No problems loading with IE here...

It is not a server issue...

Problem is "zones" in the privacy settings, some of the cookies from the banner ads are in a restricted or blocked zone.

When I am on certain parts of my corporate web, same thing happens. I'm stuck with IE6 at work (a technology company, go figure..) and can't modify my privacy settings so I'm in the same boat so to speak. Choices (firefox, etc) are great, if you have them.

Work around: CTRL + F5 and hope your refresh/reload has a different banner ad that is not blocked. If another blocked/restricted ad is shown, repeat CTRL + F5....

I am/was having the same trouble after downloading the latest version of IE. I took the plunge, and downloaded Firefox 8. Everything seems fine, except they asked me if I wanted all my favorites and things like that transfered over to FF...I clicked yes, and the download went smooth. Now, (not being FF wise) I cant find my favorites, or, it didnt transfer them. Any ideas ? Thanks.

Me too, way better with a wrench than a computer.

US1 Fountain 11-08-2011 05:45 PM

Switched over to an Apple last week, which has Safari. Huge difference between that and IE. So I just DL'd Safari on my work laptop, again, huge difference over IE, plus no more of those dam certificate error bar codes anymore. US1 is a happy camper! :)

tinman565 11-08-2011 05:51 PM

Ok...so lets get the consensus: Which browser is better overall ? Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari ? Any others ?

TBAG 11-08-2011 05:59 PM

I have the same issues at work with IE, but none at all with Firefox at home.

tinman565 11-08-2011 06:28 PM

So can someone tell me where my favorites list went to now that I have Firefox ?

PhantomChaos 11-08-2011 06:40 PM

Google Chrome!

tinman565 11-08-2011 06:45 PM

I figured it out....:lolhit:

Opera

SS930 11-08-2011 08:41 PM

I have problems with IE9 and OSO (seems to only be with OSO). The same machine and using other browsers it's not as much of a problem. With IE9 I often have to click on something a couple times to get it to load. This has been going on for a while now. On another machine with IE8, I dont have as many issues.

WildThing47 11-08-2011 08:45 PM

due to the site compatibility and how IE9 handles the standards of site design....it's just the coding..

LapseofReason 11-09-2011 07:01 AM

Firefox fixed my problem with OSO but I see since I didn't change the title of the thread and somebody else did they still have problems that make me not want to pay for a membership and not spend as much time here.
