Yep. That is right. 1999 at Reggie's place. We were still running under the old disastrous rules with open boats running 160 plus and modifieds that always broke down. I think Cat Can Do actually won the next day's race with a taped together nose running around at like 60 mph. Pathetic.

2 Open Boats in 1999 and then Alcone went to Europe. Super Cat was where it was at. Somebody find Daytona 2000. John Tomlison said it was the roughest race of his career. I'll never forget watching Curtis Morris leading big time until he hurt his back.

I remember looking at and listening to that footage and finding no indication that he ever chopped the throttles. It is common for many race boat drivers who haven't back flipped to miss what is happening until they are near vertical, hence the need for absolute cockpit protection.

On the other hand, I did think the announcing was flawless..... :D

well if 130 is the (optimum) speed, 525's would be the fix for this as Super Cat Light! back in 2006 when there were 10 boats it was some good racing between the MC, Hooters, and Popeyes all skaters !!!

They were allowed to TAPE up their boat and start?! Do they not have safety inspections after an accident or is this an old set of rules?

If I recall, 1 week after that happened Cat Can Do was still taped up at the "Shake the Lake" Winnebago GLSC races in Oshkosh WI. :lolhit:
