Search for "flash tape" for bird control. It is 1/2" mylar strip that is red on one side and silver on the other. It makes a snapping sound in the wind.

Attach several 4-5 ft long strips to the end of your overang as close to end of boat as you can get.

I will look like you are throwing a party but this stuff has kept woodpeckers away from my house for 4 years running.

This works great for problem birds in our area. I do not know if it will work for your Blue Heron.

Dean I think Jay is right being against the law,plus I'm next to a Sail boat pier and I'm pretty sure there's some PETA people over there.Also people are walking up and down the levee exercising making it inconvenient.My pellet gun is pretty loud too


Dave the tape looks like it could work,Ive got some pink surveyor flagging ribbon hanging there now with a yellow balloon on it,Ill see if that works.

I've a different problem, but still a bird problem at my house in Missouri. We've got about 4 cardinals that come to our back window on the deck and proceed to have 1 bird beak knocking contests with their own reflection. Funny at first, absolutely annoying now. Sets off my chihuahuas constantly and settling them down is right up there with a teen age boy at his first porno movie.
I've tried tape, foil, fake owl but not the rubber snake yet. Wife is deathly afraid of them, even if she knows its fake, go figure.
Their second best fight club is to sit on the side window of the car and beat themselves to half to death in the side mirrors.

Strip - that is the flash tape. I think the balloon you have now is up too high and not effective as it does not move much.

Get the flash tape. The stuff is really effective.

The balloon touches the boat in no wind and about afoot of extra ribbon on it , When the wind blows west it want be towards the nose.I had Someone also tell me that they get use to it and doesn't bother them.I'll find some flash tape too.We have never had the Herons around in past years.

We use to have a problem with Pigeons up in the rafters on the Pier,When one doesn't hit the water and gets caught up in the rafters.The other pigeons want come back around,Thats been 3 years now.

I would chit back on him,, get a paint ball gun and dye him with red paint balls
