Who's the best boat Painter?
 

We have this on going question, who has the biggest and best reputation as a boat painter.

It it - The art of Design (TAOD), or maby Mitcher T, or how about Visual Imagination, or it might be some one we don't even know yet.

Please give your 2 cents worth, and we'll keep a talley.

Taod painted mine so he gets my vote

tough one each of those guys has there own style and are off the charts in terms of quality. Dont forget about GraphicFX and GeoGraphics. I personally think Dean Loucks is not of this earth, that guy is light years ahead of anyone in this field.

I vote for the guy who started wild paint and was the first to apply cool design/graphics/paint to a boat. All the rest followed his lead. His name is Joey Earl of Kangaroo Graphics. He did the original Apaches and Powerplays in the mid to late 80's. Before him, it was boot stripes and names only, thats it....then he did an Apache 41 called Low Profile for Ken Denison, the rest, as they say, is HisSTORY.

Kustom Kolors did some award winning graphics on Baja Marine products like PokerFace. Mitcher T. is also tops from what I have seen.

Grafikworx is absolutely at the top of a short list.

You can't leave Donald Rossi (Trick Paint) out of this, He painted all the "Real" Midnight Express, The Systems Cats, The Lip Ship Apache with the Ribbon paint Job, the list goes on & on. He is the Original Custom offshore boat painter, I believe he still does the Pantera's and some others.

Then there is "Benny" who did all the Popeyes & Fayva shoes boats. He could lay paint on with a gun and it would shine like you just wet sanded and buffed it, back then (before this base coat/clear coat stuff) you actually had to be good with your spray technique if you wanted it to shine, these days they rely on the clear to make it shine.

No honorable mentions – you have to pick just your favorite. Or I can’t keep a good talley.

All painters mentiond are great shop them out do it that way?

I would not say my friend is the best but he is pretty effin good on a small scale..he can do the big stuff but does not have the shop to expand his talent..here is some of his work..

Tough question for sure, everyone already listed in this thread has done some amazing work with different styles. So to me there really is no "best" out there, every boat owner has a different preference and opinion on paintjobs. Whether it be simple, clean and classic or over the top wild.

Ok, who does design work at a "reasonable" price? I need a design for a 38 ZRC.

There is no real answer to the question... Painters are all primadonnas. I'm the best painter that's ever lived. :evilb:

We use Clint Graham Sublime Motorsports Grafix 905-695-2455 he has done several for us including the 36 Sunsation on the cover of Power Boat mag this month .

Who is Skater Powerboats in house painter? Do they have one or a few (in house) painters? There boats are always amazing...

In no way trying to be a smart azz, but no real way to answer this question as there are to many variables..

As a painter myself I gotta say that my hat's off to all of these guys ! (some of these guys I'm familiar with & some I'm not) Moving from a creative idea to a finished product with a paint gun at the level it ought to be on any media is something most would never fully understand, let alone something the size of a few billboards..

I'm in the business , and steve at skater is off the charts !!!!!!!! He does GREAT work !!!!!!!!!!! Also T.O.A.D. Is fantastic , but also the rest that people have talked about do great work ,it's up to your taste!!they all have their own way to make magic !!! Or should I say ART !!!! You want go wrong with any of them , they are all professionals .

chris mills, boat customs does a nice great job did the 48 skater/cig v hull

INXS Motorsports, in house Paint and Resto shop at Active Thunder Boats.

We have relationships with several South Florida boat builders and associated that we do regular work for.

Yeah, this thread needs more pics for sure.

Not sure who did this one but it was always one of my all time favs. symmetry and color are perfect. To bad its gone now . . . . .
