Assuming both packages would cost the same and run the same speed, which would most people want and be better for sales. Let's say the boat is a 30' cat and the engines are twin mercury 6.2's/bravos, vs. single 525/xr's.

Go for the twin engine setup, you'll never regret it.

UD when did you last see a cat with staggered motors or, with motors so close together that you could not work on them?:lolhit:

In my opinion...any thing beyond 24' deep v for offshore you go twins....just can't build enough reliable torque with a single.

Having both props working for you in the rough stuff makes a difference.

Not sure I agree, you are leaving out half the equation.
the other half is weight .

its power to weight.

I have oodles of reliable torque & relatively light weight.

I'll stand corrected with his reply.
I was referring to the performance, ability to limp in on a single drive, and most importantly resale.

I also think a twin engine whould be tighter to the water than a single in bigger water:rolleyes:Pushing a 30' boat with a single I'd get a Superboat or that style Kyrpto,Activator,,etc etc!Just don't go real far:drink:Wide beam twins!

Agreed - Limp in is nice.

Resale is relative here in So Cal.

Bigger up front on either end hold ups well.

High end big premium power big singles hold their value well, and sell quicker as many more guys can "play."
