i have been in the shop with the ACTIVE THUNDER and SONIC side by side and you can tell they came from the same place at one time , the big difference is that the top of the center of the deck was resest in on the AT and out on the sonic and some work by the side's of the engine hatch up until the stepped the AT .
just look at the front's of both boat's they come to a very sharp point in the front

I think the story you heard was that Pat owned a 30/31 Sonic, years ago, built by Jay Ross himself. While Pat was out IN his Sonic, he saw the 32 Thunder 'Runnin' Hot' out running and he loved the way it ran. So much so, he bought the company and made it into Active Thunder as you know today. They both have a walk rail, yes, but so do a couple others including Fountain.
The 32AT which eventually became the 37AT before the DDC, can trace lineage back to an Aronow hull from the days of way back.

38 HyperSonic
Yes this boat is a 38 Sonic with a brand new step bottom, new swim platform and new forward and rear vents. Also have redesigned the cockpit upholstery and new dashes.

Our 30 Vendetta is built under the Frisini brand and also was given a brand new bottom as we were not happy with the Adrenaline version.

1. You lose some of your Mercury warranty once you use straight back headers on the forward engine. We wanted to be able to offer our client full warranty on both his engines.
2. In a normal staggered you put the forward engine around 2" higher than the rear engine. This is not optimum as you want your weight low towards the keel for better balance. To achieve this our exhaust had to be routed to the outside of the engines as our forward engine is equipped with Mercury Racing warranted stock turn downs.

Probably a good thing. That bottom was from the 31 Active Thunder CC. We built quite a few 28 V bottoms with a dam in that mold (which that boat handles great) but the aft end of that mold originally had a rocker to it. We never got to ride in the Adrenaline version with the steps added.
