BobtheBuilder for President

Today is the remembrance date of the Jenifur Molter story.

It was hard to find a thread to bump today:

The thread about the boat wreck didn't feel appropriate. Those that feel like rehashing it please do so there instead of here.

BobtheBuilder in Powerboat Magazine didn't seem appropriate considering recent events by Bonnier shutting the publication down in unfortunately what has become the norm in a boater-to-boater transaction; some one getting screwed.

Update on Jenifur Molter wasn't a good idea considering who started it, which can be read here.

So to keep things positive, it is an election year in the US and even though he is a Canuck; I'm tossing BobtheBuilder out there for President.

Official Campaign Slogan:

"BobtheBuilder - the man we all aspire to be on and off the water."

If I had a Nor-Tech I'd name it "BobtheBuilder isn't my uncle but he is my idol"

Cheers Bob!

I agree!

BOB FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

He may not be from the USA, but hey, I am not so sure Obama is either!

I am sure Bob could do more good for this country in six months than Obama can in a full year!

All fun aside, I hope Jenifur is doing well and I have the utmost respect for Bob and what he does for everyone. His traveling and stories are only overshadowed by the size of his heart and his love for life. I hardly know him from the few times we hung out on poker runs and all the great stuff here but he has been a huge influence on my life and many others.

And to Jenifur, best wishes from your extended boating family.

I think he should be on the ballot in November. A NT in every garage, you just have to work for it, would be a good campaign slogan.

Is there not a law that prohibits one from holding both the Canadian Prime Minister's office and the American President's office concurrently?

He's a Canuck he can't run, it's an amendment in America's constitution.

Besides why would he want to sully his stellar reputation by becoming a slimy politician!

And when your a Canuck you can only vote for other Canucks!!!! :drink: ;)

Bob's the Ambassador for all of us performance boaters. We coudn't be better represented.

Webster: Ambassador-an unofficial or official representative traveling abroad as ambassador of goodwill.

bob 01-06-2012 07:38 PM

Bob's efforts down here in SWFL/FMO have helped make the area one of the best performance boating locations in the country! The FMO group consists of great people and the events are the best. Without a doubt BobtheBuilder is the reason FMO exists and the time Bob contributes to put together the events is why the group keeps growing. Thank you BobtheBuilder!

After the Key West - Cancun - Key West journey, we proudly named Captain Bob "King of the Yucatan Straits"

After running with him aboard Team Predator from St.Lucia down to Bequia, and then all the way up past St.Kitts to St. Maarten, we decided he deserved a promotion....

He is Admiral Barnhart....please make a note:drink:

Bobthebuilder 01-06-2012 11:39 PM

Thank you !! :)

Having just read thru this thread I am blushing and laughing at the same time. Some of you are just too funny.
It is a rare day when I am not on OSO several times a day. Today was one of those days as we left Marco Island this morning on Team PREDATOR along with my nephew and his family in his " Bob's My Uncle" Nor Tech. We are now down in the Keys at Hawk's Cay Resort. I was totally unaware of this thread until Hans text me a couple of hours ago. Tomorrow we will cruise a bit further thru the Keys before heading back up to Marco.

Then there is a serious side to the thread as well on this 5th anniversary of the accident that claimed the lives of 4 of Jennifer's closest family members. Some will remember the fund raising that OSO and FMO members took part in to help Jennifer realize her dream of getting a college education. OSO and FMO members who contributed or even offered words of encouragement can be very proud as she continues to inch towards her goal. As Jennifer supports herself, she finds it necessary to combine working and going to school when she can fit it in. She has turned out to be a fine, mature woman that we can all be proud of. I'm sure she will not mind me sharing with you an excerpt from a recent letter where she speaks of her current situation.
"I am working full time at the Old Collier Golf Club for the season and hope to get started on my personal training*schooling soon, so I can*test and receive the certification*by the end of April. If so,*I can return to Edison for the summer semester. I have 6 classes left in order to*achieve my Associate in Arts degree, then I hope to transfer to a university for my bachelors. I am keeping very busy! I'm looking into possibly*getting my Bachelors in Dietetics and Nutrition-- it will go well with the personal training. I will take a few chemistry and nutrition courses at Edison as electives for my AA, in order to prepare myself and decide if a health science degree is the right way to go :-)"
The trust fund we set up for her future educational requirements remains in good shape and we will continue to assist her with that.

Now as for the Presidency….. well we all know that's not going to happen. LOL While I may be Canadian I consider myself fortunate to be able to enjoy the best that both countries have to offer. Having homes in both countries and spending considerable time in the USA, I often feel right at home here. Having many friends here in the US certainly helps as well. While the Canadian political system is patterned largely after that of Britain, I am fascinated by and follow closely American politics. I am sure that this coming election will be most interesting and have great hope that America will again return to great prosperity in the years ahead.

Thanks for the kind words, the laughs, Mark's fantasy Presidential nomination ( LOL ) and for having Jennifer in your thoughts as well.

Bob

Bobthebuilder 01-06-2013 10:01 AM

Well the election is over and well .... you know what happened. LOL

Bob is doing great and getting lots of boating in.

More importantly I would like take a moment to bring everyone up to date on how Jennifer is doing. The trustees have done a great job over this past several years of helping Jennifer with her financial needs regarding her schooling. She is now 22 and has shown a level of maturity well beyond her years. After doing some checking, we ( John Barkley, John Wilkinson, Hans Haedelt and myself ) felt perhaps the time had come to wrap up the Trust Fund and turn the remaining funds over to Jennifer letting her make her own decisions regarding financing her schooling. We all met in Naples, FL and had dinner together and presented her with a nice check that will go a long ways yet towards her future schooling needs. She continues to both work and take courses as she is able. Jennifer is a fitness fanatic ( of sorts LOL ) and has plans to enroll this summer in the National Personal Training Institute in Orlando. When she graduates in October she will be qualified to work as a personal trainer and that is her immediate goal.

She tells me that her Grandparents that raised her after the tragedy continue to do well.

Once again, I must say that all of FMO & OSO can be very proud of what they did for this young girl who has now grown into a responsible young woman.

Thank you all who took an interest in her and helped to bring her through an incredible difficult period in her life.

Quite a memorable day for everyone who was there,
and of course with Bob- always a great ending to the chapter.

Thanks for posting this, Mark.

I'd like to add my thanks to this as well- always wondering about the next adventure with this guy.
Also, I would like to apply for the position of campaign manager. :party-smiley-004:

LOL. Not to worry about 2016, Terry. While I am fascinated with politics I would never have the stomach for it. I will have to be satisfied with my role as Chairman of FMO. LOL

I have continued to keep in touch with Jennifer and will update her current situation in the next hour or so when I can devote some time to it. Hers is a good news story but as far as Nate goes …… not so good.

Be back shortly.

It is 7 years ago today that Jennifer lost 4 family members in that tragic offshore boating accident off Marco Island, FL. Many of you are aware of the fund raising that was undertaken by FMO with many OSO’s contributing to a trust fund established to help her meet her educational goals. For the last 6 years Jennifer has combined work and schooling to be able to establish herself and I am happy to report that she continues to do well and has completed her schooling. I will share with you some excerpts from a recent letter:

Hi Bob,

So good to hear from you. I graduated from the National Personal Training Institute in October and am now en route to California where I have landed a job at a sports performance facility. My boyfriend is a personal trainer as well. We spent Christmas with his family in NC, stopped in Flagstaff, AZ and went to the Grand Canyon. We will arrive in CA on the 3rd. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of you and your offshore boating friends. The fund paid for my personal training school, the best decision I have ever made. It’s where I met Jeremy too. :) I plan on having a very positive and successful year. Please keep in touch.

Jennifer

Some of you will also recall that in 2008 one of the trustees, Nate Hunt from Naples, FL stole approximately $ 8,000.00 from Jennifer’s trust fund. Eventually after some long, hard fought battles we recovered the money just before it went to trial. Nate was found guilty and was required to serve some community service and given 5 years of probation.
On December 5, 2013, just a month ago, Nate was again charged with fraud. I do not know any of the details of who he allegedly defrauded this time other than what is on the public record shown below. What a piece of work he is.
