I bet the try to patch and pump and repair. Much of the ship is still good.

Agreed. Cant imagine a piece of salvage equipment large enough to right that.

How do you get 2 miles off course ??

I heard the AA batteries in his handheld GPS were dead, and things happen fast when traveling 20 knots!

All kidding aside, scary to think these things happen. As bad as the 12+ commercial bus drivers that fell asleep at the wheel last year.

Nah, the law works a bit different here in europe. You just can't file all sorts of rediculous lawsuits when ever you want. But there'll probabley be someone who will hire some shyster and try to milk it for all it's worth.

Bottom is stove in ,they will weld plates over those areas and pump it out, get it in a drydock ,repair, rename, back too work, the alternative is scrap in place and that is a $$ JOB.

OMG, what a friggin moron of a captain and his XO.
I can't believe the dialog I just read between him and the Port Authority.
When the truth comes out there's going to be Hell To Pay for sure.
All his story changing really made me wonder if he was in full command of his senses or if he just panic'd like the passengers, forgot his rank, and called "everyman for himself"

My heart breaks for the family survivors of the lost souls on board and for the poor passengers attempting to disembark a severly listing ship with no command and control.
Incarceration is no punishment for a crime like this, he shoud be keelhauled and left for sharkbait.
There's NO EXCUSE for those actions.

See ya,
Kelly

Dont the Norwegians have that biblical thing that brought the USS Cole back? Even it may not be big enough.

That captain is a POS and unworthy of the title, and my sister could have tracked a better course. With all the electronics they have on that rig the ship could do it itself if you plotted the correct course in.

The "Blue Marlin" was the name of it.

Getting the cruise ship on it- not easy.
