Cruise ship runs aground
|
Wow! Holy cr$p! Titanic like accident...
|
|
When I just logged on to the internet this came up on Yahoo home page.
41 people still missing and the Captain and his XO have been arrested for their actions and abandoning ship before all passengers were safely removed from the vessel. See ya, Kelly |
Lots of lawsuits coming.... :party-smiley-004:

I was aboard a Navy ship that ran aground. Interesting experience although we didn't sink. Got pulled off at high tide. Commanding Officer was relieved after being in charge for only a week.
|
And I just booked my first cruise for early in 2013!

Captain has been arrested and charged with involountary man slaughter, among other things. So has another crew member from the bridge. No, it won't be the end of offshore racing in Italy, one has nothing to do with the other, and I don't see cruises being more expensive either. If anything, they will now have to make an extra effort to get people to buy cruises, since some will see it as an unsafe way of vacationing.

i wonder how long before someone hires michael allwise:party-smiley-004:

Abandon Ship -------- Captain First!
|
How do they salvage and remove something of this size? I assume the damaged area will be sealed off from the rest of the vessel and the water pumped out, but will a ship laying that far over right itself?

Agreed. Cant imagine a piece of salvage equipment large enough to right that.
How do you get 2 miles off course ?? All kidding aside, scary to think these things happen. As bad as the 12+ commercial bus drivers that fell asleep at the wheel last year. |

OMG, what a friggin moron of a captain and his XO.
I can't believe the dialog I just read between him and the Port Authority. When the truth comes out there's going to be Hell To Pay for sure. All his story changing really made me wonder if he was in full command of his senses or if he just panic'd like the passengers, forgot his rank, and called "everyman for himself" My heart breaks for the family survivors of the lost souls on board and for the poor passengers attempting to disembark a severly listing ship with no command and control. Incarceration is no punishment for a crime like this, he shoud be keelhauled and left for sharkbait. There's NO EXCUSE for those actions. See ya, Kelly |

How do you get 2 miles off course ?? That captain is a POS and unworthy of the title, and my sister could have tracked a better course. With all the electronics they have on that rig the ship could do it itself if you plotted the correct course in. UD |

The "Blue Marlin" was the name of it.
Getting the cruise ship on it- not easy. Uncle Dave |
The Capitan was skimming the coast line showing off, is one story I heard.

Thats pathetic Port authority: "It is one hour that you are telling me this. You go on board. On b.o.a.r.d (says the word slowly almost spelling it out). And you immediately tell me how many people there are"

The Greeks abandoned a sinking ship leaving the passengers on their own, now I can add Italian's to that "Avoid" list. Weird how the stabilizer avoided getting broke off.

A worm,
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/...37_306x423.jpg and his wannabe woman on the left. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/...30_636x767.jpg and a tragically sad candlelight vigil for 2 unaccounted for Americans on board. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/...90_634x427.jpg I find it unfrigginbelievable that the Captain of a vessel of this magnitude would be so careless with his ship ferrying over 4200 souls aboard to wine and dine and then change his plotted course to impress and salute colleagues from work. and then lie about the severity of the accident to the Maritime Authorities. I'd post how I feel again but it would be redundant. See ya, Kelly |
The capt now says he fell into the life boat helping some women in. Luckily several other high ranking officers also happened to fall into the same lifeboat. For the record I wouldhit that
