Here is a paper weight I have in my office. :drink::drink::drink::drink: |

Pictured:
Stock prop had a blade tear off over a couple rotations; and it chopped the end of the drive shower off, as well as a few slices through the anode/cavitation plate. My GF was driving at the time; and she hates it when I blame her for it. :D I had a small bolt back out of the cone clutch assembly in a Bravo drive. It turned the inside of the drive/fluid to "applesauce" was the tech's description. No pics of that one. I'll try to find pics of the drive that was hanging on by the steering rams several years ago as well. The outer helmet housing snapped in two across the top, from pivot point to pivot point. I got lucky on that one and did not even tear the bellows. A couple years back, in a friend's boat; we snagged a steel cable crab trap on the KW Poker Run. The steel cable went between the prop and the drive, and ripped the anode off--around the prop shaft. When the anode came out, it tore the drain plug out of the drive, sideways. That will ruin a drive real quick too. |
Procharger woes=blown head gasket and badly torched block.

1.- Blown drive Miami Boat Show Poker Run 2010. One of three that year which prompted the IMCO upgrade.
2.- Marina cracked the corner of a step off on my previous boat loading it on and off the rack. Thought it was fixed, repair popped and caused this damage. This was then fixed right by our own Glassdave and it came out better than new! |

I keep this on my desk as a reminder how a 50 dollar part can stop my boat dead in its tracks...people that come in my office always ask about it. it's my humbler.

So far I have had all of the above(except a broken hering) but have had broken props. I dont take pix cuz they hurt too bad

Bad day for a Cig:

Some of those pics look awfully expensive. I grenaded a Bravo upper but that was expected. My humblest moment was my first and only tow; and it was a long one!. I did a soft grounding trying to enter the PIB harbor the wrong way. The only damage turned out to be a clogged up raw water system and slightly dinged prop. Now I have a sea strainer. Luckily I carry TowBoatUS coverage!

I've heard of cranks and rods going through the bottom of a boat. Is this one of those cases?

Boating Lession # 1,246- Lots of bad things happen when you break a crank. http://www.performanceboats.com/gall.../IMG_05151.jpg http://www.performanceboats.com/gall...0/IMG_0510.jpg |

http://www.performanceboats.com/gall...0/IMG_0509.jpg Then again, I didn't have a flat on a run-flat tire last year, too...so it could be me that breaks the unbreakable...lol. |

To go with the head and block . Could not bring myself to take a picture of the head and block , but they looked just like yours. |

Changing oil the hard way. We've all been there.

OOPS.
Hit something submerged at 85 plus in October. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...2007/oops2.jpg |
Havasu - ben there done that but not as bad.
Broke the crank and the webbing of the block from the pan up to the cam on both sides. only thing I salvaged was the heads and the intake/carb. Toasted the block, crank, pistons/rods, cam/lifters, flywheel, harmonic dampener and front cover |

Backing the boat off the trailer and hit a pile of concrete on Sam Rayburn. The lake was a little bit low. The sad part was I had launched there at the same lake level several times before, I must have just missed it each one of those times.

Result of Bad U-Joint Bellows
When I first bought my 255 I knew that the starboard No 1 drive had a torn U Joint Bellows. I can't believe the idiot I bought the boat from actually kept running it like this...this is from more than one outing!!!
Talk about your screaming gimbal bearing:evilb: |
