The saga continues........
I spoke to the builder last Wed and the motors were supposed to be done for the weekend. I called Fri. and he said they were finished but still needed to be dynoed and installed. He said he was going to put them on the dyno on Monday and to call him on Tuesday. Well today is Tuesday and guess what, I spoke to him at noon and he was just starting to hook up the first motor on the dyno. Now 2 weeks ago we had a heated argument and he assured me that my boat was going to be a priority. It should have been from the beginning!!!! Does this sound like a priority? I know he is aware of my posts and I hope he reads this. He has now joined the list of scumbag marine mechanics. He considers himself a "high performance specialist" I think not.

Man that is a bummer. I know that right now my hands are tied because all my stuff is back ordered. I am chomping at the bit to get back to work. It is killing me. I hate it when my customers are mad at me!!! I will work day and night to redeam myself in their eyes.

Ken and Fred,
Sorry to hear about your continuing problems...Things ain't been that great on my end either...one of my motors is in and the other should be in tomorrow...that's not the problem.
The problem is, my dad just bought a 1994 Chris Craft Continental here in NY and we were bringing it around from Mt. Sinai on Saturday when the starboard transmission inexplicably came loose from the bellhousing(V-drive) causing sparks and a hell of a racket at which point we shut the motor down and limped into Mattituck...3 hours later...it was not a good day. And, to make matters worse, the stuffing box started leaking like a garden hose and it's a good thing the boat had 3 good pumps on board! I feel real bad for my dad who has just gotten back into boating after selling the marina 15 years ago and this happens! To top it off the guy he bought the boat from is being a real scumbag and saying we beat the boat up in the Sound...not even close
I am really starting to not like boating at all...this has nto been a good season so far and I am wondering if this is all worthwhile???
I think he should at least split the bill with my dad...what do you guys think?

What man? Your the only guy thats having new motors put together?
Im still waiting for my $75,000 project to be completed...since October!
Quality takes time, dyno tuning takes time.
After Dynoing our motors the builder didn't like how soon the power fell off and wanted to have new cams ground up...well kiss about 2 weeks good bye.
Im glad he is spending the time to get it done right.
Remember the saying, " You want it done? Or do you want it done right?"
Also if you piss him off im sure your final bill will look nasty.
Chill and spend some quality time with loved ones.
Good luck

FAR TOO FAMILIAR !!!!!
Folks .... what we have here is a reaccuring theme that seems to run rampant in the "marine industry" ... be it boat builders, engine shops, repair shops et al.......... It astounds me how many times this spring I have heard of (or experienced first hand ) slow, shoddy, careless, poor business practices and or performance by the shops that we are all supporting with our business as "customers" .... What's the answer ???? Don't know, take your business elsewhere and hope the new guy does better ???? There are some great folks to deal with out there, but for every straight shootin, hard workin shop that takes care of their customers that are shellin out SERIOUS coin on this great past time of ours there are probably ten that seem to blow things off and treat the work as a hobby!!!! If you can't get it done ... tell us you can't because there is someone out there who can !!!
I'm done ranting !!!!
