LOTO Trivia?

My brother and I were talking about what he would do if he won the Lottery and he said he would have the biggest boat on the Ozarks. He asked what the biggest boat was and I told him I think it's a excursion boat that's around 58ft long. But I'm not sure? What do you guy's think?

What's the five largest boat's on the Ozark's?
(Excluding housboat's, the one the preacher had in party cove last year was big, but to me that's a floating dock!)

Isn't there a couple of 50ft Sea Ray's?

Gary Anderson 06-19-2002 10:47 AM

There's more than a few privately owned 54 Sea Rays, the Bud boat (Bluewater) is at least that long. And keep an eye out for a 58 Sunseeker in the next few weeks too. BTW, The old Celebration boat has got to be well over 60 ft.
Gary

FunHome 06-19-2002 11:02 AM

58 Sunseeker! yea, that's big and everything but Dude, how much is one of those?$$$?

The old Celebration how wide is it? How did they get it to the Ozarks? Isn't there a maximum width on the Highways? I guess that would be the only restriction to how big you can get on the Ozarks?

How about floating a boat up the Mississippi to the Missouri then truck it the last hundred miles?

ssherman 06-19-2002 11:17 AM

Ther is currently a 58 Sea ray express on the lake @ Emerald BaY Condo's it is owned by a guy from STL. There is a 560 Sea ray sedan Bridge @Glencove Arrowhead has made mention of driving a 680 sea ray up the river to jefferson City and then having a helicopter airlift it to LOTO:eek:  It will never end:rolleyes:

jawbreakerkid 06-19-2002 11:52 AM

ssherman- i think the "Three Amigos" should put in an order for the 680. we would be big pimpin' up in L-O-T-O!!! we could name it "O.O.C." :D

later 06-19-2002 01:28 PM

i have heard that village marine has sold a 65 carver and last saturday i saw a very big carver go by in frt of my house plowing and just about destroyed my dock. at least half of it was out of water 5 feet. now mind you i choose to be on the main channel and have been there for years and believe me i know what rough water is all about. but i have never seen a wake come rolling in like this boat was throwing. i have a concrete dock that holds up pretty good but with continuos waves like that there will be alot of property damage along the channel. i told the wife ill be setting up a video camera for when it does damage ill be talking to the insurance and show them the tape. the boats down there have exceeded the lake limits. also i believe the celebration is in the 80 ft range 20 wide and was brought in by trailer less upper decks and lauched at the public ramp by ozark BBQ.

BFentiman 06-19-2002 02:05 PM

That 580 sure looked good last wknd. First time I had seen it on the lake, parked across from a 540 at Topsider and looked very impressive. Arrowhead didn't sell the 580, obviously it must have came from some other area. Arrowhead just sold another 540 and currently have a 550(old 540 Sundancer re-named) in stock. The 550 at 15'11" wide is actually longer than their 630, so that boat can make it to this lake, the 680 is a little too long unless you brought it in the way mentioned earlier. Gary, when is Richard's Sunseeker coming in?

Barry

bmpnugls 06-19-2002 02:05 PM

Actually, the new proud owner of the Sunseeker told me last week that the OAL of the boat is FREAKIN 61' 6" - - HOLLY CRAP!!! And it is one sweet ride - two master stateroom, flybridge, room to sleep 12 comfortably!!!!! and yes, it's coming over on a 'ship' (as if it's not a freakin ship itself) from the British Virgin Islands to New Orleans, then up the Mississippi to St. Louis, the trucked to the LOTO!!!!!! ~ from what I hear like $50K in transportation expenses!!!!!!!!!

It should arrive in the next couple of weeks - although it's not in 'transit' yet...

I have seen some big Sea Rays on the lake though - I thought Schmoops (54') was the biggest, but I see several the same size as his at Kellys Port, The Ledges, and Village Marina all the time!!

rainmn 06-19-2002 02:05 PM

Pardon my ignorance - I live on the East Coast, and have never been to LOTO...yet. But, why a 65' cruiser on a lake? That sounds to me like riding a JetSki in a Pool.
Don't get me wrong, I know it's a big lake, but isn't it still overkill?

bmpnugls 06-19-2002 02:15 PM

If you ever experience the rough water at LOTO you'll realize why - hell, in the past two years I've known of half a dozen mid 30' performance boats which have 'busted apart' on the lake due to too much pouding at high speeds - believe me it happens - my Warlock was one of them!!!!!!!!!! And, last weekend I pulled the passenger seat studs through the interior wall of my Fountain when we were leaving party cove - almost shooting the seat out of the boat (with my 100lb girlfriend in the seat)...had to do a quick fix on that one....good thing the base rail screws were tightly in place in the floor..............

I'll admit, 60+ foot is a little ridiculous - hell most bars/restaurants on the lake don't have slips to accomodate such boats! But, you do need a big boat to ride comfortably on LOTO - I get beat pretty hard in my 33' Fountain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flyinbrian 06-19-2002 02:17 PM

Big time overkill!!

I visited LOTO for the first time last weekend. It is a big inland lake, but 65' is a bit much. Just my opinion.

I guess someone has to be the big dog on the lake?

Lake Cumberland, KY is similar to LOTO, without all of the commercial and residential overrun of the surroundings. As far as boats go, I get a kick out of all of the big offshore powerboats on these lakes. What a shame. It's like buying a Hummer to drive back and forth to work in Iowa.

I can only take them in small doses, I like to see the scenery change throughout the summer.

Brad,

here is some history of "big" boats on LOTOcasino pier

and

the LARRY DON

Flyinbrian 06-19-2002 02:58 PM

Rough water

If you ever experience the rough water at LOTO you'll realize why
The big stuff breaking your boats is caused by the guys trolling around in their 30-65' cruisers at w.f.o. tearing up the lake.

Gary Anderson 06-19-2002 03:06 PM

rainmn
Yes it's overkill, but someone always want to be the big dog (most of you at LOTO know who that is). It's even difficult to find dock space at most of the bars and restaurants if you're over 50'. But I'll also admit that I'm guilty of looking at a 55' Chris Craft last year in FL, but the transport costs were outrageous.
Gary

Tbonepmp 06-19-2002 03:32 PM

Well Fellas...

We have not made our final decision as of yet, but we have it narrowed down to the final two... We will soon be piloting a 80ft. Magnum or an 88ft. Pershing on LOTO!!!!! Ssherman, JBK, and myself have joined forces in efforts to be THE BIG DOG!!!!!!!!!
I don't know about you guys but I think we can do it!!!!!!:p
Now the only question that remains is "Where the hell are we going to keep it"??? Anybody have any ideas???

Tbonepmp 06-19-2002 03:35 PM

Hey Gary...???

Ya have any room over at Yacht Club?????????:D

Gary Anderson 06-19-2002 03:45 PM

Tbonepmp
no, the question is, How are you going to get it there?
Actually, I hear that once that 2 lane stretch of 54 outside Eldon is finished, any size will be able to get through. Now think BIG!!!!
How about I get in on this and we get at least a 100ft high speed yacht. That should be able to wash a few docks away.
BTW, they do have docks for 60' boats at YCM.
Gary

Tbonepmp 06-19-2002 03:51 PM

Okay, You're In...

I forgot your the one that always has the chicks with you...:D
Plus, with the Sea-Doo there is no need to buy another tender!
So, now that you are in we need to think BIGGER... MUCH BIGGER!!!!! And BTW, since there are four of us we are definitely getting something that has at least one turbine...!!! NO EXCUSES!!!:D :p

Gary Anderson 06-19-2002 03:58 PM

The only reason there are any chicks on my boat is because of the two bathrooms. So, I figured the next boat should have at least 6 bathrooms (sorry, heads). If we lose the turbine, maybe we can fit in another one.
As for the tender, I think Shane has got more "use" out of it than I have this year.
BTW, where were you this last weekend? I was looking forward to doing some liver damage on your birthday.
Gary

jawbreakerkid 06-19-2002 04:01 PM

Tbone- LOL!!! in the infamous words of Johnny Ringo, "Hey shane, Now that's a f'n boat! You think we could put that thing at the moorings? I bet we could put that f'n thing at the moorings!!!!"

.....with Gary as our 4th partner, we will be able to pick up Conner with no problems!!!! :D

jbk

Tbonepmp 06-19-2002 04:03 PM

G.A.

We basically just took it easy all weekend...
The cove seemed like it was just taking a weekend off or something, for it seemed abnormally quiet...???
We will definitely hook up this weekend... it is looking like it may be an all guys weekend!!! LOOK OUT LADIES!!! WE'RE COMIN' TO GET CHA!!!!!!!!!!:D :p :D

ssherman 06-19-2002 04:10 PM

JBK LMAO

I am in on what ever Conner is in on.

I sent the deposit today for Moonraker 112 ft 4 2000+hp diesels and one 4000hp turbine. 5 state rooms and tons of fuel. I think it best if we dont lite the turbine until we get out of BWJ cove. wouldn't want to upset the dirty duck.

Gary,
My brother and I have been looking at www.ShipRepo.com
You said after 54 in finished any size would be able to make it, I would think there would be a limit to the weight on the bridges, etc. What do you think?

Tbone, Jawbreakerkid, sherman---Count my brother and I in on the BIG one!!! He always wanted to buy a couple of huge barges and build a actual 2 or 3 story house on them, complete with a mocked up yard and driveway with a garage, that you could pull your car into!! (He's a little warped!)

A 680 Sea Ray would have to weigh about 30 tons, what kind of helicopter could raise that?

Tbonepmp 06-19-2002 04:17 PM

We will just hire someone to bring it up by river to Jefferson City and then we will have it air-lifted by a couple of huey helicopters to LOTO!!!!!!!!! Or since we are spending so much already, we could just have a canal dug to the river, so we could take if back and forth if need be...??? :D

From Sea Ray web site-
LOA 70'5"
Beam 18'6"
Dry Weight 75000lbs. or (37,500 Tons) Not a bad guess, if I do say so myself!

FunHome 06-19-2002 04:22 PM

Tbone, Now your talking!!! A Canal!! With a Lock so we could charge the next guy that try's to out do us!!:D

Tbonepmp 06-19-2002 04:24 PM

The guys at Port Arrowhead said that they were trying to figure out a way to do it and this helicopter thing was a possiblity. They seem to think that if they get it there somebody will definitely buy it, I have to AGREE with them!!! There is definitely enough people with the money that frequent the Lake and just like Gary said somebody always has to be the BIG DOG!!!!!!!

jawbreakerkid 06-19-2002 04:27 PM

maybe we should consult with Conner first? we'll just have to ask her this weekend. i can see it now, "Hey Conner, ya still have a boyfriend? Oh really.......you do. Well, damn it!"

Tbonepmp 06-19-2002 04:33 PM

Forget Conner... she has lost that lovin' feelin'.... no she hasn't... yes she has.... dammit
I hate it when she does that!!!!!!!!:D
We are onto bigger and better things my friend... Connor is a lost cause!!!!!!! She will never be ???< you know what I am trying to say!!!!!!! :p

Gary Anderson 06-19-2002 04:39 PM

Bad news guys, even a chinook can only lift about 14 tons. Back to the canal/lock solution.

Gary

Suzie, i don't know what you are talking about.....

how about this one....

Gary Anderson 06-19-2002 04:43 PM

JBK,
Those are great!
BTW, shouldn't we be working?
Gary

jawbreakerkid 06-19-2002 04:43 PM

14 tons....hmmmmm, i wonder what the hull would weigh without the engines, interior, etc. maybe they could lift the bare hull to the lake, then finish the process there. with enough money, you can do anything....

eyezlee 06-19-2002 05:19 PM

you guys are friggin killin me here. :D I go to grand lake here in Oklahoma, its about 1/3 the size of LOTO and there are more than 800 boats 35' or larger that are docked in Duck Creek. Plus we've got Ugly John's the worlds #1 carver dealer. Those f*ckers are everywhere on the lake. You are right somebody has to be the big dog.

ssherman 06-19-2002 07:03 PM

Thats it i am buying the island infront of big thunder and then i will be the big dog i will just line the shore with slips and we will start party island:D

FunHome 06-19-2002 08:42 PM

Shane, If we buy a couple of BIG barges and connect them, we could bring our own Island to Party Cove!! Complete with sand and palm tree's!!:D

The big paddle wheel cruise boat on Table Rock lake was built on site, come on with all the people you know you ought to be able to find someone that could build us one!!!
